CGDCS shows are for the real hardcore anime enthusiasts while animes like Naruto Bleach etc. are for normal people.

Big fan of the genre. I don't always need to be blown away by what I watch, and these shows relax me after a long day.

One of my favorites from what I've found recently: Joshiraku - fairly intellectual, quite funny, but very Japanese (you'll know what I mean if you watch it) wordplay/dialogue comedy.

iirc, the OP and ED were quite awesome.

You do, indeed, remember correctly. OP and ED are both insanely addictive.

My thanks to you all for resurrecting this topic. Nice surprise to have with my morning coffee.

Here is a thought that I can add: When I think of CGDCS, it calls to mind that specific "show about nothing" idea, typically set at a high school, that PGW mentioned above. If action happens, IMO, it immediately disqualifies a show from the genre (e.g. Arpeggio of Blue Steel), though it may still have elements of it.

Another thought: Does Sakura Trick qualify? IMO, no, because there are strong relationship elements there (i.e. the yuri happens, instead of a bunch of jokes dancing around it for the entire show).

Obviously not... ST is a completely different sub-genre: "Cute girls doing cute girls"

My favorite of these shows is still Lucky Star. Man that show was great once it picked up. Holds a nice little place in my heart.

Minami-ke also, one of my favorite comedies. I need to finish the other seasons.

Cute Girls Doing Cute Things are Justice!!
Sure, getting tense over suspense and all is extremely fun, but there are times when one just has to calm down and relax; and there's nothing better for that than CGDCT.

Just last night I finished the second season of K-On and watched the movie for the first time. I saw the first season ages ago and I love CGDCT shows, so it's kind of odd that it took me so long to get around to S2 and the movie.

Man, was I absolutely blown away! I always wondered why K-On was as popular as it was. Sure, the first season was great, but it didn't particularly stand out to me at the time. Perhaps I was too fresh into the genre to realize how special it was - or perhaps S2 just happened to hit all of it's marks perfectly.

Whatever the case, K-On has now etched a very special place in my heart. Especially after the movie. Something about it just felt so.... right. It was a joyride filled with fun, friendship, feels, and fuwa fuwa, and I feel really empty now that it's gone....

Also....freaking kunoichi Nodoka!!! My gosh, why is she so amazing? I could probably watch an entire Nodoka spin-off.

I just want to stream Ichigo Mashimaro legally.

*Gently pats*

We all do... we all do....

When I first started watching anime, I did manage to catch it by... less than reputable means, unfortunately
