I watch a lot of romantic anime, it is my favorite, and i get really upset when the protagonist ends up with nobody. Not because i think there can not be a fulfilling ending with that, but anime like la corda d'oro, la storia della arcana famiglia, and countless others end leaving you with the impression of "so.....this was the last episode... " I have seen all of the Romance anime on Crunchyroll currently and countless others. I am just saying, i did not like School Days because the feeling it left me with when i finished it, but it wrapped the story up perfectly for what it was going for. Any thoughts?

The endings where they are set up for another season and then that anime fades away forever into obscurity....so just about every shoujo show

When the main male protagonist ends up with the main female. It's so predictable and I hate it. Sometimes it works, but other times it's stupid.

Any romance where the childhood friend looses out to someone the protagonist just met. I mean, really? All those years forming a deep connection and you go for the girl you just met like a month ago? Ugh. Makes me want to punch something.

Spoilers for 5 series below. Don't look if you don't want to know series where the childhood friend loses.

Still good shows, though. Just frustrating endings.

Endings that kill off the love interest.

Yeah, I get that it's supposed to be emotional and stuff but nothing pisses me off more than when they give a character so much development and then just throw it all down the crapper with a cop-out death ending.

It's really sloppy and uncreative in my opinion

I dont like the endings where the main character by all rights SHOULD die and the show would still come out good, and he lives. But I really dislike it when they take the time to let you bond with a character and then kill him her off. Only Psycho Pass did a good job of this. The Sunday without God... not so much.

Cliche endings aren`t really bad at all.

Cliffhangers were the worst ending ever.

Endings where they pull a specific Deus ex Machina. I mean like something sad happens, you get invested, but poof then everything is alright and nothing bad has happened. Why try to make us emotionally invested, and then pull some bullshit reason to get that happy ending.

I'm all for open endings, but when making a romance, make sure the main guy/girl gets the guy/girl.
Endings in an anime, where there come something up, but it just ends. Don't built anything up, before you know you will be able to resolve it or the know that they get another season. *Maoyu, Black Blood Brothers etc.*

I would say the open ending for the theory of a season 2 is one of the more frustrating especially since we know that a second season is only a distant possibility at best: Fortune Arterial, Skip Beat!, My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU, Elfen Lied, etc.

Also the rush job ending where either the budget or episode count did not allow for the story to be told properly: Angel Beats!, Air to name two of the top of my head.

Also that Tomoya Okazaki didn't end up with Kyou Fujibayashi, but that's just a gripe. Yes, yes I know they did the OVA but you can't properly condense 20 hours of visual novel story into 24 minutes and make it feel right. Sorry that was my random Clannad girl fandom rant of the day.

The "I'm choosing all of you by choosing none of you" harem ending.

The "turns out we're not actually related!" ending.

I hated Mirai Nikki's ending, but I wouldn't really call that a "type" of ending

Those that don't have an ending and you are left in limbo. *coughsberserkcoughs*
