Any romance where the childhood friend looses out to someone the protagonist just met. I mean, really? All those years forming a deep connection and you go for the girl you just met like a month ago? Ugh. Makes me want to punch something.

Spoilers for 5 series below. Don't look if you don't want to know series where the childhood friend loses.

Still good shows, though. Just frustrating endings.

Slight spoiler warning myself!

Just finished Ef - A Tale of Memories. And I honestly never felt the "childhood friend" vibes from the, well, childhood friend. I'm all in with the Childhood friend love interests, but she didn't fit with that. This was due to her being more of a character and thusly more realistic. I mean, half of them Romances if the Childhood friend loses, it's implied she dies alone after falling down the crappy apartment stairs in which she lived for 50 years after you dumped her.

Yeah, she's totally going to get over it.

I dont like the endings where the main character by all rights SHOULD die and the show would still come out good, and he lives. But I really dislike it when they take the time to let you bond with a character and then kill him her off. Only Psycho Pass did a good job of this. The Sunday without God... not so much. :P

You should watch Mobile Suit Gundam. The original 1979 version. Amuro Ray totally should have died, more importantly, they taunted you.
They tried to say "You know, this is the moment our hero would die....if this wasn't a kids show. If the director had his way, he'd be dead!"

To get to my own. I love it when a story ends with some sort of "To be continued" and they actually do continue it. Tower of Duraga, Universal Century Gundams, Dragon ball, Berserk(In a way, just watch the first episode after the last!), Fate/Zero(Far more than Fate/stay night BECAUSE I feel like I can watch Stay Night to get the second half of the story every time I watch it, even tho I've already seen it!), and especially Batman; The animated Series(BATMAN BEYOND BITCHES!)

But I hate the over-japanese extremely rage inducing "deal with it" endings of
. Hell, EVEN NINJA SCROLL. They're all Traditional Samurai style movies sure, but those endings...cause HATE.

If you haven't seen Katanagatari, watch it already. Picture for you, but not a spoilery one.

Well, I think Char's Counterattack made up for that. Also, in the novelization, he dies at end. Actually, not even in a Mobile Suit, he's shot during a ground battle. As far as I remember, anyway.

Another good one is Texhnolyze

I watch a lot of romance anime so Harem endings are the worst for me. I'd rather be annoyed with a bad choice than no choice at all, makes me feel like I wasted my time. I also don't like abrupt ending where it's I love you, kiss, roll credits, and goodbye. I want to see something more conclusive like when shows give you a epilogue of where the characters lives are headed or end up. For romance Amagami SS did a good job with this. True Tears REALLY needs one, another annoying ending to an otherwise great show.

... So which is it? You prefer to have a main character die, even when you've had a whole series to bond with them? But your second sentence says you don't want that. I'm so confused.

Also I believe the SWG ending will be explained if they get another series, which I really hope they do. There's a lot more of that story to tell.

When the ending reveals that the ENTIRE series was a flashback or dream. I don't know too many anime shows like that but they are worst than a cliffhanger in my opinion. I hate ending that leave fans debating on whether the character lived or died *cough* Lelouch*cough*. Nobody like that cop out shit.

I also hate those ending when EVERY CHARACTER DIES including the main character. Along with the awful the-major-antagonist-is-suppose-to-be-dead-but-there-he/she-is-ending or even one-of-the-major-antagonist-henchmen-turns-out-to-be-alive-endings.

The you-have-to-read-the-manga-endings are fucking ridiculous and a pain as well.

I can do this all day(its actually night time where I live though. )

I hate anything that uses rape or ntr in any form... I can't stand when the love interest dies in the end. To me its a cheap way to add drama it would take real skill for someone to create that drama without using the above.

cliff hangers, rushed endings, the lack of any definitive conclusions and stories where the potential of a characters redemption is not fully realized.

Evangelion - the ending was rushed and the studio ran out of money

Claymore anime - the last episodes were made drastically different with the loose ends being hurriedly tied up.

Elfen Lied anime and manga - The ending felt rushed and the main character couldn't really reach their full potential of character development. There was a lot of missed potential.

Not sure if we're thinking the same thing or not but I do hate it when they just end, you feel like you're on ep 12 of 24 but the IS no 13-24. Especially when you find out how early into the manga that the show stops.

I hate romance story endings where a choice isn't made even though that was heavily implied to be a story piece that would be resolved. And while choose them all harem endings seem weak, choosing none of them endings are far worse.

Whoever mentioned Mass Effect... don't get me started lol

That is annoying.

I can care less about the harem endings.

I'm okay with shows that end mid-story, it's the shows that rush an ending that I don't like. Fantastic Children was one, some characters didn't get a real ending, and it just didn't feel as epic and filled out as the suspense was building up to. It's just disappointing when that happens.

Either the ones where it seems to just throw out everything thats come before just for the sake of the ending, or the ones where they end with a cliffhanger because people don't seem to realize ending a season with a cliffhanger doesn't guarantee a second season e.e
