Log Horizon showed more MMORPG w/ only 2 episodes than SAO did w/ 25

I don't make a habit of comparing one anime with another, but since that is what you're doing in this thread, I'll give you one. There is only one thing that comes to mind when I compare Log Horizon with SAO, and that is the fact that Log Horizon lacks the sentimental value that SAO presented. I don't feel any emotional value or depth, not even awe, while watching Log Horizon, whereas I constantly had that feeling while watching SAO. And this, comes from someone whom generally has a hard time feeling anything other than nothing. However, I don't see why I can't enjoy both SAO and Log Horizon, for different reasons.

I was so impressed watching Log Horizon yesterday since it actually seemed like they were in an MMORPG world.

Haven't really noticed. But chrome, it seems you are getting obsessive over sao.

I have yet to find an mmo anime I really enjoyed aside from .hack.

So SAO is not really MMORPG-focused from the start?
Interesting. So it just used that setting to attract a lot of fans.
Hmmmmmm....

I like each of them ( SAO, .hack series, Log Horizon) for what they are. None of them are the same they stand alone and are not clones in any way. Hope you can enjoy it for what it is and if you have not watched the .hack series might want to give them a try while you wait for Log Horizon to unfold some more.

Yes. As others have stated (in other threads), the "point" of SAO was to visualize being trapped in an alternate reality. The author simply thought the most "realistic" way to do that was to have gamers trapped in a VR world.

However, I think it's unfair to compare SAO to LH.
For that matter, I believe it's unfair to compare any of the "Trapped in an Alternate Reality / Game" entries:
TRON
Digimon (?)
.hack Series
Sword Art Online
Log Horizon

( I'm sure there are others, but these seem to be the most talked about in the arguments I've seen. )

All of these have similar themes, or a similar concept and premise. However, we distinguish them from each other because the focus of their stories are different.

Let's just enjoy the shows for what they are, yes? Comparing them against each other just hinders how much we can enjoy our anime!

I disagree with the thread statement, but I can't go into that!

You're extremely slanted against SAO and you've already made a discussion thread about Log Horizon and how it's different than SAO. DO you really need two of them?

Sorry folks, it's come to my attention that there's another, older thread dealing with a comparison of LH to SAO--it started as a prediction thread but has a lot of activity, started very recently, based on now having seen some of LH. Please continue the discussion there, as this is essentially a duplicate (I'll retitle that older thread soon).

Sorry for the double post, but I wanted to quote to notify everyone so you'd know what happened. See above post--basically there's another LH/SAO thread, so discussion should continue there.

I liked sword art online season 1, I absolutely hated season 2. Log Horizon is well on it's way to being a better over all show and yeah... it plays up the fact that it is actually an mmo considerably more than SAO did. SAO's story doesn't even need to be based in a game, I think the writer just wanted some "twist" so it could be used for perceived tension.

I am also going to comment here despite the lock, and Lorreen stop double posting
