I have been talking some japanese classes for 3 years now, including since i have relatives in japan i sometimes visit and learning to speak japanese is useful, let alone its fun, including learning to write and type with japanese language inputs on my keyboard, which actually if you listen and read carefully of the words used in anime, you can easily memorise some words, which is the reason why i can watch anime in complete japanese without even subbed, which i don't care for english dubbed either.

I want to go to Japan at some point, and I will one day. I'd like to learn Japanese as well, but I know I never will.

I want to learn to speak it as well, or at least try! I'm only gonna live once so hell yeah, I'm gonna try and learn it and maybe even visit Japan at least once.

皆さん、
日本語は全然難しくないよ!
頑張って。

I'm an Irish person who socialises in Japanese quite frequently, take it from me, it's not difficult. Also, its true, anime is better in Japanese
If you right click on an anime, you can select "Turn off subs". Try doing this for an anime you like and already know, its how I'm learning Mandarin now.

頑張って!
Ganbatte!
Try your best!

I'm learning japanese and I would love to go to Japan. I've been. Studying it for 2.5 years now and I can attest that it's unfortunately really hard. But I needed a hobby anyway.

I just started trying to learn the Hiragana alphabet, it's just so hard to pick a starting point to self-learn!

I would love to move to Japan and live their for a few years, if I get the chance I will be doing that! :D

I just love the culture, and sushi.

I've been to Japan already. I didn't know much about Japan culture when I went, but I was fortunate enough to be with a Japanese friend, so I got to know the best parts of Japan. That also got me into being more interested about the culture, mangas, anime (I already enjoyed some anime, but not as much as now).

I've taken Japanese classes, I also have Japanese books to help me learn. I watch most of my anime on here, so I watch it in Japanese with subtitles, of course, but I can now understand about 30% without reading the subs.

It is a complicated language to learn though, and I cannot memorize the symbols for the life of me

I learnt Japanese as a subject in school for two years and took it on outside of school for a year. I was the only one with an Australian backgorund and came out of the class crying on the first day because I felt stupid for trying to learn it being Australian.

My days on learning Japanese are over but I do want to visit Tokyo for the 2020 Olympics.

Is your course more language or culture based? Or is it an even mix.

Myself, I've been learning the language in school since I was about 6 since it is / was a compulsory second language in Western Australia. I was learning all the way up until Year 11 and then stopped. I then started learning outside or school and for my own interests. So that's like, nearly 12 years next February.

I still need to go to Japan though , I'm hoping to plan something for the end of 2014.
