I noticed on the 15th a youtube update came out that lets you select a specific video quality instead of auto. This leads me to wonder if with the release of IOS 7 apple has loosened their grip on how videos are streamed, and developers can now include options for it.

Is crunchyroll able to do this as well now? I know in the past it's been an unresolvable issue because of apple's limitations, and is a real hinderance to CR's app. There's nothing worse than watching an intense scene in 720 and then in the middle of it the stream switches to a resolution so low that the subtitles are unreadable and the sound feels as if you're underwater.

Any news on whether or not switching away from auto and pegging it to 720p will be possible?

I'm using an ipad 2, ios 7.0.2 by the way.

Thanks for your time.

I know it's on our To Do list, but have no timeline on this.

There's actually a hidden feature for this. ;)

1) Go to the settings screen.
2) Touch and hold on any part of the screen
3) A magic option called "Fixed Quality Video" should appear
4 Switch that to on
5) Enjoy pretty animus
