Life is an obstacle in itself, and anyone could just slip on to the afterlife in a snap. Sometimes we make accidents that could have been more than fatal to ourselves.

Have you ever came across a near death experience?

I have twice. I almost drowned in an up-ground pool when I was younger. The second time was smoking weed correctly for the first time, (and what a dumb choice that was). I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time and I developed severe paranoia and I was in a very unsafe environment.

^ Did you get addicted to your weed? How's the taste? Any munchies?

It's not like it was a near-death experience, but when I was three, I broke my leg...

...by kicking a rubber ball...

...

...I use any excuse to tell that story.

A cab almost killed me when I was crossing an avenue in NYC. It was scary.

I was almost crushed to death by a filing cabinet once.

It was one of those cabinets that filled an entire wall, and I had one too many drawers open when I was filing some documents. The whole thing tipped over and would have crushed me to death if it weren't for the quick thinking of some of my nearby colleagues.

1. I was all alone at the house, as usual, as a kid (six years old), messing with something highly flammable when it blew up in my face. It didn't create any shock waves which could've killed me but for two seconds the entire apartment, including myself, was emerged in fire.

2. I smoked concentrated Hashish while drunk, and for 3 minutes I thought that I was going to die because I was slowly blacking out against my will.

3. Car crash. Driving at 120 km/h on a 50 km/h road. Car hit us from the right. His entire front got torn off. We went into the opposite lane and got hit in the front by a car that came right at us. None of us was wearing seat belts.

4. Moron pointed a loaded WW2 G3 (7.62 caliber) packed with ice in the muzzle to my face at a training exercise. I carefully explained to him how dangerous the situation was, but he just kept smirking like a retard saying "So what?". So I pushed his assault rifle out of my face, disarmed him, crushed his front teeth in with the butt of my G3, broke his nose, and continued to punch him until my sergeant wrestled me into the ground.

5-20. Every time some idiot picks a fight with me because I'm the least threatening looking guy around. I always consider my life as being on the line, and that I'm going to die when I'm confronted with such aggression, which is why I don't like fighting.

21-22. Nearly offed myself.

Was with a friend four years ago when we walked out on a lake of pretty thin ice. We were probably 100m or so from the shore when it started cracking and he fell into the water past his waist. We ran back after he pulled himself out and when we looked back there was probably a 50m span of cracked or broken ice. Of course this was at two in the morning and we were far enough away from help that we never would have got to anyone in time. It's weird looking back, because we act like that night never happened. We completely ignored it's existence even though we were both close to tears when we hit that shore.

It was really late at night, maybe around 2am. After a very long drive up to Halifax, and then back. I was starting to nod off at the wheel. So my girlfriend at the time took over, and I fell right to sleep. I don't know how long I was sleeping, but I was awoken to her screaming. Like, really screaming. I tried to calm her down and got her to pull over. Apparently she almost hit a huge Moose or Deer. She was very close to hitting it. She said she could see the whites of it's eyes.
I was asleep during the whole event, but she said we would have died if we hit it. That's my near death story.

I was once sledding out of control, backwards when I was 5. Good thing that tree caught me with it's low branches and I was unharmed save a few scratches.

life is just repulsive.

ones death is caused by ones distasteful life choices.

in the end our own self is our own antagonist while we try to be the proagonist

Uh, It's not exactly a near-death experience:
About 2 years ago I was on my way back home from my grandfather's funeral with my family...in the middle of a snow storm

Long story short, our car hit black ice and fell into the ditch, rolled 4 times in a row and, landed on it's side...

Believe it or not, we all (sister, mother and I) came through it unscathed

If we hadn't worn our seat-belts we probably would have all died.

So...
Yeah, ever since then I've been terrified as hell of cars...
And highways...
