So, anybody here following the MLB 2013 playoffs this year? There's only 4 teams left:

LA Dodgers and St. Louis Cardinals:

Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers:

:

What has been your impression so far? Anything that surprised u? Who do u think will win the World Series this year?

For myself, I'm a Tigers fan, so I'm always pulling for them no matter what, even though it's not looking good with them currently being down in the series 3-2. I'm still disappointed with that blown game 2, but stuff like that happens. If they can force a game 7, I like the Tigers' chances with Verlander on the mound in a 7th game.

I'm a Tigers fan, but I don't really follow baseball until the playoffs. That being said...

This is going to be tough for them. I'm bummed about game 2 as well, but it's really hard to avoid grand slams when they happen. T-T Verlander will only be any good that game if they can win the game 6, so I'd like to see that happen first! =P

Cardinal are going for sure. I'm going with the underdog and wishing Detroit win. ↑ Goodluck

I am a Tigers fan, having been (almost literally) born into it- My mom went into labor with me coming back from a Detroit Tigers game.

I am disappointed with them, but I don't see them as a championship-calibre team this year. Yes, they've got Miggy, Scherzer, etc, but I really think that the 5-game series with the A's took it's toll on them.

Yep. And we can 2nd guess their decision all we want, too, but I hope the next time a similar situation happens where they have a 4 run lead late in the ball game, and the opposing team's best homerun hitter comes to the plate with the bases loaded, they elect to just walk the guy! xD If they had done that, the Tigers still would've had a 3 run cushion, and maybe, just maybe, they could've won that game... T.T

I kinda disagree. I think they got the pieces to win it all this year, but with an injured Miggy, I don't feel quite as confident. All his injuries, I think, has taken quite the toll on him that I think he's far from being at his peak performance, and far from being the Triple Crown performer that he was a year ago. I still think he could've won it again this year had he not been hurt for a good part of the latter end of the regular season.

Anyway, I think a good way in judging how championship-calibur a team is, is to look at the numbers during the regular season. The Tigers actually are 2nd in MLB in Total Runs Scored at 796, that's 2nd only to the Red Sox at 853! So they have a pretty potent offense even with a hampered Miggy, who's been playing hurt for a good part of the end of the regular season. As for Total Runs Against them, they are ranked 7th in MLB (which I think is still pretty good). Now, to me, the most important stat is the Run Differential (Runs Scored over Runs Against), and the Tigers are 3rd in MLB at +172. The only 2 teams that are better are the Cardinals at +187, and the Red Sox at +197. Personally, I don't think it's a coincidence that 3 of the 4 teams left, are the top 3 teams that lead this category! XD The Dodgers are the only one that are a bit of an odd egg here, lol.

If I remember correctly (since I was checking up on these stats during the regular season), the Tigers actually led this category for a good part of the regular season (up until Miggy got hurt is when they seemed to slump a bit in these stats).

If anyone's interested, u can see these stats on ESPN: http://espn.go.com/mlb/standings/_/sort/wins/order/true

As much as I would like to see the Sox play the Dodgers in the WS, I don't think the Dodgers will end up making it. Sox will beat the tigers for sure tho.

Well, as a life long Sox fan, living within a hour of Fenway and all, all I can say is that the Sox are in a great position. Idk if we can handle Shurzer(however you spell his name), but I think we can get to Verlander if it goes to 7 games. Lackey has been the best pitcher for the Sox all year long, just like with game 3 I think Lackey can handle Detroit.

These next few games are going to be great(if we even need more than 1 game)

The Dodgers are going to ride Kershaw to game 7 and it'll be L.A. vs Boston
