Overly-violent female characters..

The kind who, when feels "insulted" beats an male character to the point that their face is reconstructed or punches them so hard that they're sendt flying and smashing through huge rocks/iron walls. <-- These kinds of things annoy me, especially in animes where these hits would be lethal/near lethal if it was an "enemy" who delived the punch. Also, I don't see the humor in it.

Non-essential characters who're invincibly strong for no reason what so ever aside from 'just because' .

They're often related to the hero, like their little sister or some other kind of loli char and they usually don't take part in the actual story line. They're just kinda hanging around with their unstoppable super-strength beating the hero-char to a pulp at the smallest hint of an insult.

Weak and wimpy protagonists.

When doing an fighting anime, where is the sense in having a weak, wimpy and useless brat as the main character? It bugs the crap out of me. Not saying that the main-char should be superman, but if they're going to start off being weak and wimpy then atleast have some character progression and growth.. 100 episodes with the main char being the exact same useless wimp despite countless fights is just lame.

Wow! This person is athletic, smart, funny, kind and gorgeous! In fact, there's absolutely no indicated reason why anyone would not love them! Which is why they have no friends. (Extra bonus points if it's a girl and Generic Male Protagonist is the first one to become her friend)

#1. Asuna and Kirito "getting married" and playing mommy and daddy in Sword Art Online.
#2. Never-ending music that doesn't fit the moment, like in .hack and the Monogatari series.
#3. The voice and personality of Rintarou Okabe in Steins Gate.
#4. Naruto's personality in Naruto.
#5. Harem/ecchi.
#6. Weak, pathetic, whiny protagonist that doesn't change over the course of the series.
#7. Large muscly viking-like character that turns into a soft mushy teddy bear for a single awkward romantic scene (Berserk).

Funny enough I've always felt that they can use pretty much whatever tropes so long as
1)The mood is never broken(It can be shifted but comic relief is for comic relief, cracking wise and just being stupid are different things in my opinion)
2)The aesthetic appeal makes up for the failings. (If its drawn like a cave painting it better be like written by Scorsese or something.)

Nothing knocks me out of a story like it being too ugly or too serious/silly for itself.

Momoyo Kawakami doesn't agree.

Undeserved harems! Why are all these supposedly unpopular, weak, perverted main characters getting a harem? As a man, this hits the hardest. Work for your harem, men!

Character's who don't "grow up" over the course of a show. An example being Meg from Burst Angel. You keep waiting for her to get her shit together but she never does.
Violence for the sake of violence.
Constant sex scenes when there is no reason for it.
Giant boobed female characters.
Excessive flashbacks. (Naruto, I mean honestly, why on earth are you reminding me of shit in the first season or the previous two episodes all the fricking time. If you don't have enough stuff to put in the episode then animate more. Lazy bastards)
Filler that makes no damn sense, or goes on for more than a single episode. (Bleach has several during the Aizen arc than just infuriated me. I wanted to know what happens next and then suddenly I need to watch the soul reapers having a film festival or going to the beach or the terrible power rangers rip off. And Naruto, after Sauske is kidnapped by Orochimaru why is are there any more episodes in season 1? It's not like anything comes of it.)
The highschool setting is getting dull.
Also anime, or anything really for that matter, where the main character always wins, all the time and seems to be incapable of losing anything. Against all odds or illogical concepts in the end they can defeat their enemies who by all rights should not be defeated.

Random moments of comic relief. I appreciate comedy and all, but it kinda kills the mood if used super inappropriately. This is an issue with a lot of shounen shows for me.

Another shounen issue is the overt sexualization of female characters, whether it be massive gravity-defying boobs, booty shots, or manipulating fighting scenes to look strangely sexual (I see this more often than I ever hoped to). Not only does it remove me from the show's atmosphere, it sours me on the show in general. Really? You couldn't just draw normally proportioned ladies? You couldn't give them any more clothes to wear than a bikini? Why, anime? Why?!

Excessive internal monologue is also annoying, as well as sudden shifts in a character's personality/abilities that aren't clearly explained. For example, main character is usually a weak wimpy kind of guy, but suddenly he finds the power to knock the total shit out of the big bad bully at school. Um, what? Did I miss something? Surely there was some development there that I didn't quite catch, somehow.

Finally, a character's voice. Whether it doesn't match the personality, doesn't match the situation, is just grating to the ears, or reminds you of another character from another series every time you hear it. I had flashbacks to Accel World for the first few episodes of Attack on Titan. It also bugs me when they don't change the voice actor between the younger version of a character and an older version, as with Eren in AoT. Kid's voice had to have changed a little between the ages 12 and 16.

Well this is the reason why I never find any anime shows to watch. I just turn on an episode and one of these things that have been mentioned happened. I know asking for something completely original is pretty hard to come by in any medium but anime seems so filled with it. I am trying ti get back into it since it`s been quite a while since I get into it but I have taken a loooong break. Maybe I am just picky but there is so much out there and opinions vary so much Guess it`s time to look again and watch 2-3 episodes before sleep :-<

When an anime has a filler episode that is completely random or if the fillers go on for to long it makes me lose the story.

^ this. If the filler negatively effects the story (for example the "power' filler arc of Naruto. While done very well, the 'wtf' part is Kabuto revealing his ressurection jutsu before the Fourth Shinobi War. It just makes no sense in the overall context of the Naruto story. I want to watch something that adds to the story, not just totally ignore the story currently going on.) It really takes you out of the experience. I want to see filler done right or not done at all. Just put the series on hiatus if the anime is catching up the the manga instead of making crappy filler.

Fight scenes that last over 100 episodes. I mean I'm fine when the fight is progressive (ie the large arc in Attack on Titan) but when the fight is stagnate or cycles between three characters for hours is when I cut out.

But otherwise I ignore cliches and faults in anime, so that when I do watch a really great anime it feels even greater.

There are a few tropes that can harm the experience for me. I know this is cliche.... But the worst one has to be how everything is set in high school! even when the plot would work perfectly fine, if not better in another setting! Also how are all these teenagers so mature?! I don't know about you but when I was in high school no one acted the way they do in a lot of shows.

What about you? What are some of your immersion breakers?

Japs have no free time after schools done. They work until death now. The economies fucked to the point they no longer can afford kids.

They write about the best time in their lives.
