Generally, if it's not on Crunchyroll, I'll try other legal streamers first, then resort to less-than-legal streamers. I never download because I have a monthly download limit, and torrents eat it up fast.
Before, I sometimes bought DVDs, but I ended up buying a few really disappointing series that were a waste of money in the end, so now I generally prefer to watch the show somewhere online before buying.

I feel bad when I hear about all these illegal streaming sites. I know that there are just some types of anime that can't be seen anywhere else, but what does this mean for anime? In anime some years ago, it was Dying. It's not that anime was bad, it's just that people in the west could only get anime through illegal sites.

This led to less views on legal sites = less money for anime industry = less good anime = less views = less money = Dying anime

The entire cycle of this is bullshit because that means in a few years if there are no mainstream anime for non- otaku's there won't be enough of a fanbase to continue anime. For instance, anime was dying through 07-12 sure there were a few good ones here and there, but they didn't capture the eyes of the main audience, until 2013 came where AoT shattered record charts and with it kind of came the rebirth of anime. The only way for the anime industry to stay alive is by watching it legally and supporting it as much we can. Course I'm not one to talk about always watching the legal, legit way. I'm just here to say that try your best to support it.

I look for it on other legal streaming sites, including Funimation, Hulu, Netfix and Amazon.

Between all of those sites, I have access to more anime than I can ever watch in my limited free time.

Funimation or Adult Swim ATM. I only have limited time to watch, so it's usually an episode here, an episode there.
