This is probably really bad, but I've never heard of this OUYA device.

-I feel so dumb-

It's a open source gaming console that uses a custom version of android as it's main Operating System. There aren't many good games on it at the moment, most games on Ouya are bad ports of android phone and tablet games (that aren't well optimized for controllers) but there's one think that's good about it... There're a army of emulators on it meaning that you can play all your old NES, SNES, N64 and PS1 games on the Ouya but on the other hand so can your PC and it's much easier to just plug your PC into the HDMI port on your TV!

A lot of the issues you addressed were complications experienced through the beta model earlier in the year, After having recently purchased the newly released Ouya the resolution has greatly improved (less fuzzy pixels) and i have not had any issues with the controls either. Ouya is also planning to constantly add new games with further updates as you stated. The only major downside that is still prevalent is the interface, it is still not to user friendly and its a pain to try a search for specific titles and sometimes entire genre's, a problem I hope they fix with future updates. As to why anyone would want to buy this, well Ouya definitely caters to a niche crowd. For me it's because I like android games as a casual gamer that being said I prefer counsel systems to PC's I'm sure others who have bought it are thinking along the same lines but don't quote me on that

Glad to see Haruka back, but still, Ouya of all things. I think I'm about ready to downgrade my subscription on Crunchyroll.

The reason the app came out so quick for Ouya was because its a android based system, meaning they only had to make minor changes to have it working on the console. I think there's no Vita/Wii U app yet because of a few reasons . The first being that handheld gaming devices arent perfectly suited to playing streaming videos easily, let alone crunchyroll videos which are harder to play since they play a video with a subtitle file separately. (Crunchyroll is one of the very few companies that even does that, and remember that its not a very big one compared to Hulu, Youtube, or Netflix). Another reason would probably be the fact that the software and hardware used in the current and older generation consoles wasnt initially created to play streaming video effectively, especially with the way crunchyroll streams anime (As I stated earlier, with subtitles separated from the video). This is just my reasoning, so I could be wrong.

That is due for the next update, which you can expect it to use much of the same code that was developed for the OUYA app (since it runs on Android).

As I stated in an earlier message, the OUYA app was probably pushed out first as it makes a nice test bed, since the number of users is small (no slamming of servers) and it is a single hardware configuration.

Thats awesome and makes sense

I may be wrong but as for PS3 app it's quite complicated. Making update is one thing, but if i remember correctly even the slightest patch need to be reviewed and certificated by Sony before it is applied, it's possible for update to be added weeks after it's ready.

The other thing, similar to XBOX, crunchy need to pay fee (40000$) for every update. HotFixing is not the option, they want to release as few updates as possible. So they will hold off the update until almost all problems. They won't release one if they now that in few weeks they would need to make another one...

Assuming you're not simply trolling, you could always click the OUYA©! link in the very first message in this forum (or this message) and find out for yourself.

So I tried the app and it is spectacular. I am ashamed to admit it but my computer can't even cleanly stream 1080p without stuttering. This quality is amazing! Great work CR!

Sweet! I'm pleased that the Crunchy is expanding to new devices. Hopefully we'll see that Vita app fairly soon!

Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu was one of my favorites from the early days of Cruncyroll -- I am glad to see it back Now, how about the likes of Eureka Seven or some of the Gundam series... any plans to snag the streaming rights to those?

Now where's the PS Vita app? And, how long will we have to wait for a PS4 app?
