Hah, i think every forum has people like that, i just hate posting and then people just ignore my opinion, it happens sometimes in discussions

But anyways i was just saying how i agree with you, when do you ever see an headline about any children that are not white with praising or being described like you said as a "beautiful angel", usually you only see news articles or broadcasts rarely about kids that are diverse in ethnicity, it confuses me, but like i said i don't think they don't emphasise those type of kids more because they are not as important, its just something we can not find out on the internet, you would have to ask the companies directors and editors about this, and when you were talking about the little asian girl in your local area only got broadcasted once in a secondary headline, including they did not emphasise the importance of the girl being missing by spreading the information nor giving praising or precise details about the case, which sounds very suspicious, and rather harsh, which i believe if anyone gets kidnapped or abducted, they should have the decency to at least show their gratitude by showing how important it would be to find the poor girl and not set the case aside.

This.

I can't even remember the last time I came across a TV following, or a global following or any media attention in general to a non-white child that has been kidnapped. A sad thing is, others who have noticed this tend to blame the child, which is utterly wrong. It is not the child's fault whatsoever - only the fault of the media.

If you go on missing children websites, you can see for yourself that missing children come in all colours. It is not limited to a certain race. But sadly, 99% of the time it is the white child (especially the blond/blue eyed child) that gets the continuous media attention, and a lot of follow ups. The case is implanted into the memory, while more often than not - non-white kidnapping/trafficking - fades into the background, forgotten.

It is good that child trafficking globally is becoming more and more known, with documentaries, public speaking etc.

In a town nearby to where I live there was a kidnapping several years ago where a little white boy was abducted. The media went on and on about it, and there has been a follow up story recently.

The little Asian girl that went missing? After that one evening of two minute air-time, she's never been focused on, or heard from again.

ANY child, who has been kidnapped/trafficked...They need attention and help. Help and attention should not be limited to a single race, or a certain set of looks.

That's truly sad.

I think this is more of a commentary on the state of affairs of the media. Media outlets are remarkably amoral and will always report on whatever grasps the public's attention. If the public responds more to the kidnapping of a young white girl rather than an Asian one, then that's the one they'll report on.

It's sad, but that's how they operate. This extends to other news stories as well, such as homicide. The shooting of a white male by a black male will not attract as much attention as the shooting of a black male by a white male, whereby media pundits will proclaim racism and attract viewership (The Trayvon Martin case during the summer comes to mind).

It is true. If she had been black or asian, she probably wouldn't have gotten the same amount of publicity as she would have as a white child. I'm being frank here. There is clearly bias against other ethnic groups in the media and no one is willing to address it. I'm sure that there are other young girls like her being kidnapped all around the world, but they weren't fortunate enough to be white.

One thing I find uncomfortable about this case is that some papers seem to be implying that any blond haired blue eyed child automatically isn't Roma and must be stolen from somewhere. You do get fair haired pale Roma people.

Another case almost the exact same has happened in Ireland this week, blonde kid with a Roma family taken away after a person tipped off the gardai that the child looked different to it's siblings.

So true. What a shame. Everytime I think we've progressed as a race, something comes up to prove me wrong.

I watched a movie portraying this issue once; it's called Gone Baby Gone, and it really does highlight how kidnapped white children are given so much more media attention than a black, hispanic, or asian child in western society (Not sure about other areas).

It really is sad that that had to happen to a family. If I'm not mistaken, a recent DNA test did in fact prove that the child was that of the Roma family. People forget about genetics and how weird they can be. I mean, there are rare cases where twins will be different skin colors from each other because their parents are different ethnicity. It just shows that there may have been a genetic mutation or that somewhere within their family was a blue eyed blond ancestor.
