Most recently, the movie release The Garden of Words. As much as I love slice-of-life for reality potential, I hate the tendency towards ambiguous endings in anime. I like closure. . .

Just read a little bit of the plot and it seems really interesting. Is it pretty dang good? And are you saying the ending sucks?

it was more open ended than what you'd expect.

The movie was great, and the artwork was magnificent! The characters weren't as well-developed as I like, but I realize that the storyline itself prevented that--to have developed them more would have altered the entire story. The ending did not suck, but was too ambiguous for my tastes. Mind you, you had a good, solid sense of what happened, but I prefer to actually see it happen. (That was the only complaint I had with Lucky Star. After all that building up, we never saw their actual cheer routine. . .)

Well sure.

It all depends on what I do afterwards, if I have something new to watch straight after - the "PADS effect" is minor.
However sad endings usually have that effect one me, and I guess you could say it make feel some kind of emptiness.

Appreciate the feedback guys! I hate endings like that too. I never understand why they just can't show the viewer what happens, although in some series/movies it works I guess. I'll still check this one but I'll definitely have to be in the 'mood' to watch one of those endings lol.

It would be interesting to hear why you found it depressing. Sure it had it's sad moments but I didn't think the overall atmosphere of the anime was depressing.

Answer: School Days.

Toradora, Durarara, and I'm a bit ashamed to admit watching it, but White Album 2. (that was an extremely guilty pleasure for me to watch)

With me it was two

Aria because it ended very well. I am glad that they did not add more episodes and watered it down, but sad for it to end.
