Thanks. I find you interesting too. Nice job btw and since you like Majhong and the such the anime Akagi might suit you. I haven't watched it, but I believe Majhong is a theme in the anime. On an additional note one thing I'm sort of curious though is what is qualeshia3 thinking about all our posts. I can see her going like these guys are monopolizing the comment section or something.

Video games all the way! There are so many different kinds. Some are for action and some are more relaxing. Should the lights go out in a storm, I'd play until my DS died and probably would play solitaire or chess after that.

I like to play chess and Yahtzee and I've always loved card games like poker and rummy, or crazy eights. But video games on the PS3 eventually took over my life. >.>

You know, some members of the older generations might argue that board games are superior, but really they just have nostalgic preference and don't pay much attention to modern games. (not all, but some have that strong bias)

But honestly, video games (as an entire media form) don't seem to belong on this list...

Gaming has evolved into a medium for not only general amusement and instant gratification, but also story telling. I started playing video games from a young age (perhaps too young) and continue to play now, but for different reasons. Now, I play video games to immerse myself in another world and participate with it's themes and characters or whatever else it might offer--and hopefully I can take something away from it beyond simple amusement.

It'd be different if we were just talking about tetris, pong, pacman, and the like.

I don't think a board game has ever inspired self-reflection or catharsis in me, but they can still be amusing and even educational, but purely for entertainment it's always gonna be video games.

I'm looking forward to FFXIII Lightning Returns and FFXV

so I voted video games, as I would do anything to play those games. I waited so long for FFXV, 6 years in total...

For strategy games:
How could you leave out Go?

For board games:
How could you leave out Settlers of Catan? And I suppose no one plays Trivial Pursuit anymore...

And while I do like Apples to Apples, shouldn't it be listed more with the card games?

For cards:
Smear, Pinochle, and Euchre. And if there's nothing else, Uno.

The last video games I played were Tetris and Dr Mario. Haven't really cared for anything since.

My vote would be either "all of the above" if my favs were incorporated, or "none of the above" if they weren't.

But none of that really matters much at all today... Most non-video games are mainly for driving and stimulating social interaction with other people, not really for the gameplay itself. There's precious little of that anymore. In this on-line world we live in, we've never been more connected...and never been more alone.
