Discussion

They're back~

It's been nearly 2 years but yeah, the kids are back from Hanasaku Iroha. I was happy that Minko came back especially considering she's my favorite from the show. She hasn't changed much either in this movie. Overall, it felt pretty much like the original series with a little bits of fan service. Wearing clothes in a pool though? lol.

P.A. Works has been on a roll lately so this should definitely be on your watch list if you enjoyed the original series. The ending was pleasant I guess. The movie is only about an hour so it's worth the time.

So is this a sequel or a re-hash of the anime series?

It's a side story that contains flashbacks from one of the supporting characters from the original series. It's not a sequel but I highly recommend watching the original tv series before this movie.

Just finished watching it. It was perfect. Great animation, as you'd expect from PA Works, funny at times and a little bit on the emotional side too. Hopefully the movie will get licensed, I would love to add this to my collection

I'm watching this on... a certain site that I cannot mention, and it just reminds me how much I miss this show. It's like my most favourite slice of life show ever. I keep hoping they do another season for it... but if Mushishi can get another season, I suppose there's still hope.

Also, watching it for the first time after such a long time after the series ended, it's like visiting old friends.

In other news, that was the best movie I have seen yet.

I finally got around to watching this.

I read that the movie takes place between episodes 21 and 22 chronologically so I decided to watch it in between rewatching the series. That didn't work out as well as I thought it would. It takes place after the
, but none of the drama of the events leading up to it are present. So if I had to place it anywhere I'd say that the movie falls somewhere into the events of the first few minutes of episode 21. So I would actually recommend watching this movie between episodes 20 and 21 because it makes a bit more sense that way.

Or you could watch it like a regular person after the series is over as its probably intended I just prefer to view things chronologically, even if they're side stories.

The movie was pretty good, definitely worth watching. Nothing really mind blowing, and they recycled a lot of animation sequences from the anime. But it looks good, and it's a nice story that captures the feel of the anime. It also doesn't recap any events that viewers have already seen like a lot of anime movies have been doing lately, which I definitely appreciated.
