So I just finished Gatchaman Crowds about 20 minutes ago and I know what I thought of it but when I look for opinions on the ending I just get a big ball of confusion. Apparently people didn't understand something? For the life of me I can't tell what.
If its about Berg well then...

But moving on to my thoughts about it, I thought it was really really good... albeit it doesn't really offer up the solution it promised, but then again it probably couldn't have.

You see one of Gatchaman Crowds' themes is how do we change the world for the better and used the internet as medium for that in the beginning... until it falls into the wrong hands and people become selfish terrorists. Then comes the weird part... it opts for the make everyone heroes option which turns out to work. And then a year later shows that the Crowds are being used for crime leaving us with this ending very similar to the one we got with Psycho-Pass. A sort of "life goes on like before" ending but with a few changes like how everyone now has a super powered soul and a world leader that actually listens to people I found that little jab hilarious.

Now the implication is that, again, we should rely on other people which is fitting but it seems a little weird that a show that so dives into the topic of how to change the world with people ends with a solution like this.

Then again if the secret to changing the world is inside a television shows then this mess of a world would be untangled a while ago wouldn't it .

One question that seems is left up to us to decide is the question of, "What makes a hero?". To which the only answer the show seems to give even a faint nod at is, "Someone who takes on the burdens of other people." with Hajime and Berg's resolution.

I'm no philosophy major (even though I'd like to be one at some point) but taking on other peoples burden and relying on other people kinda don't mesh as lessons go. Not to say they completely don't but this does require quite the juggling act

Perhaps the implication is that, "You should rely on others to help you take on your burdens." or that, "We should all carry each others burdens together as a society." to which I say the latter is probably more accurate at the same time this does sort of contradict Hajime and Berg to a degree... somewhat.

As you can see the message is a little hard to uncover in Gatchaman Crowds but perhaps that was intentional. Perhaps the show wanted us to ask future questions, and maybe think for ourselves about the answer.

Well that's my take on the show and its quite possible my second favorite anime of all time bumping Black Lagoon down one spot and snuggling snuggling up under the Medaka Box manga. What did you think?

Ps. This is just for the ending by the way if you want a good talk about the themes toward the middle Screwattack did a nice article half way through the show http://www.screwattack.com/news/gatchaman-crowds-what-superheroes-should-be

Pss. And on that note I find it interesting that Rui cracks under pressure a lot . As Rui is basically the for idealism in the show, and idealism is something that can very easily crack when confronted with the real world. Kudos Gatchaman Crowds, kudos.... also Rui is still a dude still not use to that...

A bit lackluster, we know what happens at the end and some inference was needed. Overall, I was expecting something more conclusive than the battle with the tranny and the other tranny x10.

nothing against transsexuals just forgot the names.

Yeah..it felt a bit odd. I assume OD didn't make it alive and Hajime and Katze are one of the same entity now (sharing some body or possibly soul). I was expecting a better climax tbh.

Oh and shouldn't this go into the regular Gatchaman Crowds discussion thread?

I really had a lot to say and strictly wanted to talk about the ending only. That and I'm fairly new to using forums soooo... yeah I just wanted it to be seen without having to go nuts scrolling through stuff sorry if it was.

Hi there. Yes, it's not always easy to find the existing threads, but we do try to keep the number of separate threads for a single show limited, because having too many would make it even more difficult to find the relevant discussions.

As Chemist mentioned, this should be discussed in thee discussion thread for Gatchaman Crowds, which is here:

/forumtopic-811639/gatchaman-crowds

One helpful thing to know is that we have a Show Discussion Index thread that makes it pretty easy to find the existing discussions for many current and recent shows. It's one of the sticky threads near the top of the Anime Forums, so it's a good first place to check.

Please do copy your post to the Gatchaman Crowds discussion linked to above, as this thread is now locked and closed.
