Don't know where I should be posting this question at... Tired looking around the forum site but didn't really see anyplace that looked where it would belong. So trying to start a new topic and hope its under the right category!

Hi I'm new here and just singed up for a free trail and had some questions.
Does the crunchyroll app on the ipad allow you to stream at 1080p? If so does it automatically stream at 1080p or do you have to do something manual to get 1080p streaming on the ipad app!
Is their anyway to watched dubbed anime on either the app or site? Even something that has been out for 6 months to a year dubbed, is their a way to watch them dubbed on crunchyroll?
Any help answering this questions would be appreciated! Thanks!

Can't really help with the iPad stuff (but I think there's an answer somewhere), but as far as dubbed content goes, that's pretty sparse on Crunchyroll. Even for stuff that does get a dub through Funi, Sentai, AoA or Viz, CR doesn't really pursue the rights for those versions of the shows they have, so you'll have to go elsewhere to find English dubbed anime, especially for more recent series. They do have some content, most of which should be listed in this thread.

There is very little here that is dubbed. CR focuses most of their resources on getting more new anime as soon as they are allowed to simulcast them every season than any other legal streaming site. 32 this season alone, compared to only 4 for Funimation.

There are a few english spoken anime listed here: /forumtopic-788825/crs-english-dubbed-anime but it is kind of unlikely that there will ever be a lot of them.

I can't answer your streaming resolution question for ipads, not having one myself. But I'm pretty positive that Apple TV has 1080p available on that, because that was a fairly recent announcement. Probably if ipad doesn't have it now, they have it in their plans though. I know they have stated they are upgrading other devices like Roku (soon) and android (eventually), so it wouldn't make sense to leave the ipad out of that.

Others have addressed your question about dubs. Here are links to three threads regarding resolution on iOS:

Ok thanks for all the help eyeofpain and asharka! lorreen their wasn't a clear statement on there if the crunchyroll ipad app has 1080p resolution or not. One of the threads said their working on it and another said apple tv has 1080p but nothing about ipad having 1080p!
If anyone can answer the question if the crunchyroll apps has 1080p and how to view it on the app it'd be appreciated!
I singed up for crunchyroll paid so I could view anime in 1080p on my ipad (My only hd device.) if not than I'd just settle for being a unpaid user cause their isn't much difference for me. I don't like subbed anime and I'm not bothered by commercials or having to wait a week to see an episode. So this matter is of importance to in regards of keeping my paid membership or not!
Thanks

Pretty sure the iPad App maxes out at 480p.... maybe 720p, though I see no mention of 720p streaming on the iPad from all my searches in the Closed forum. I did find this:

I just got a Nexus 7 fhd a few days ago, and the video quality is noticeably worse than the iPad app. On the same WiFi network, videos on the iPad look sharp and better than 480p, but it looks like upscaled 360p on my nexus :-(

The encodes for the Android app do indeed top out at 360p.

Encodes for iOS top out at 480p.

That was posted 9/14/2013. Not sure if anything has changed since then. Bjaker would know for sure. You could also send your question directly to CR Support via the Contact Us link: http://www.crunchyroll.com/help?topic=contact.

Hope that helps.

Cheers.

The good news is that BK recently confirmed in the Premium Members Forum that the iOS app has actually had 720p support since last year:
http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-824893/1080p-video-playback-on-ios-devices?fpid=44672523

One would have thought this would have merited a mention in the Site News section, but I do not recall ever seeing one.

While I couldn't swear to it, I believe Bjaker replied during that time period the iOS app was still limited to 480p, so apparently this information was not well known even inside CR.

Thanks for the info The Wise Wizard!!!
Sucks that they don't have 1080p! Cause I'll have to see if I get much use out of the trail and decide weather or not to stay a member. As of right now I really only watch one or two subs a year, And their dub selection may as well not even exist! But at least they do have 720p streaming their members which is more anime network and I'm not sure about funimation elite on the app.
Thanks to everyone for all the help!

TAN (The Anime Network) has 720p streaming for subscribers on many titles. If you look at their alphabetic listing of titles, anything with a light red dot has a 720p version available for subscribers. There isn't any way to set it as the default, however, so you always have to toggle the "HD On /HD Off" box that appears at the upper right.

Funimation has offered 720p on their apps (including the Roku) since they first offered them.

Reportedly their new website will use HTML5 video if you visit it with a non-Flash device, and they are stating in their forum the iOS and Android apps are no longer really necessary.
