So recently I've been tracking down games I've played as a kid
So that just makes me curious, who here has had a game that the either lost or for some reason had to get rid of

And who out there has an old game at the top of their list that they want to track down? (although I don't consider it old lets go to last gen consoles at least)

Hmm....I actually found an Eco the Dolphin rom! It brought back so many memories. I still have Chrono Cross. Its just sad that my PS1 outlasted my PS2.

Still trying to get a copy of Rule of Rose for the PS2. Saw it on the shelf as a new release when it first came out in this crappy tiny Gamestop and thought "I'll wait till someone trades it in"

I never did find a used copy and now it commands ridiculous prices from resellers. So, I've been trying to hit flea markets and what not trying to find a copy in the wild. Still no luck.

Luckily, people nowadays make emulators and post it online to download for free.

The only draw back is the control or joystick. The emulators have built in tap screen controls. Those are not easy to use.
I can't use a proper Hadouken/Big Bang Attack/Final Flash with a tap screen control on my phone or tablet.

I really miss Rogue Galaxy

I had almost made all of the 10(?) special elemental weapons

It's extremely rare though, being a PS2 game in 2008 when the XBOX 360 and PS3 were heavy on the market

I also miss Pokemon Dungeon: Red Rescue Team

That game is a lot more intricate than it seems

Extremely rare? Since Sony was publishing the game, they were a dime a dozen. When Hollywood video went out of business a few years ago, my near-by store had 30 copies available on their last day (most other games being yearly sports games), each priced at $1.50 (3 of which were factory sealed.) If you look online, you'll find it all over the place, usually for up 10 USD.

The only copy I ever found was worth 40 bucks...

I've kept most of my games, which is why my collection totals over 500 and counting...but I have some games I played before and either got rid of, or were rentals which I'd like to track down someday.

Thousand Arms (PS1).
Legend of Alon'Dar. (PS2).
Dynasty Warriors 2 (PS2).
Bomberman 64: The Second Attack (N64) - CIB copies are extremely rare and super expensive.

I lost my Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town GBA game a long time ago. First it was my cousins' game, then I bought it from them. We probably played over 500~600 hours on it. It's an amazing game, and I miss playing it. I might try to find one off the internet someday.

Ouch that sucks, Harvest Moon games are great, unfortunately they become kind of hard to and expensive to track down

I've been trying to find a copy of Harvest Moon 64, the only copy I found was somewhere between $45-55

Item #1 on the list we owned til hub's little sister "lost" (pawned/sold) it: Super Mario All-Stars on SNES. All-Stars on SNES still costs about what it did new.

Item #2 : Kid Chameleon on Sega Genesis. I had it, but they were made badly and it froze/died on the first level. My parents had to return it, and that since that was the case with most of the copies of it, they couldn't even find a replacement. I wanted that game so badly, and then for it to not work?! Tragic.

Item #3: Mickey's Castle of Illusions, Sega Genesis. I've just wanted it since I was a kid; it was a really fun game! I never come across it when I do venture to look for used games.

Item #4: Parasite Eve on PS1. It was difficult to find when PS1 was still current, but after years of whining my ex tracked down a copy. I couldn't play it, but the story was really interesting so I would watch intently... then the bastard quit playing half-way through. Always wanted to see the rest.

I know I could probably download them....
but it's not the saaaaaaame! >.<

Something I acquired that took years of searching was a working Game Genie for Genesis. I still have the original book plus all the additional codebooks you had to order through the snail mail. :3

I have the original Ecco the Dolphin and Tides of Time games both on Sega! Fun games, never got anywhere, but I still played the crap out of them, haha! My PS1 is the only system I've ever owned that actually died though... too much Driver and Tony Hawk 2, I suspect.

For years I was looking for a game called Team Buddies on the PS1, crazy top down-ish block-obsessed multiplayer game with a penchant for swearing and violence. Game was way ahead of its time and so much fun. Gameplay vid here.

Cut to March, up visiting a friend for Paddys Day, stop into only retro game store in Dublin and lo, there it was sitting prett in front of me. €50 but I bought it without hesitation, spent the whole time at my friends drinking beer and playing it, good times.

Not console games, but ones I really really miss -

1. Mechforce from the Amiga. very well done adaptation of the tabletop system, complete with a hex grid map.

2. for multiplayer, Spacward Ho from my mac days. multiple (super generic) races teraforming and bulding fleets to defend your territory.

3. A real oldy from the apple ii, Sundog: The Frozen Legacy. You've inherited a run down space trader, and have to use it to make your fortune.

All good choices, Sarge. I got Thousand Arms (hilarious) and Legend of Alon'Dar (manliest theme music ever) at launch ... and have not seen them anywhere else since, save for E-Bay. DW2 is fun, too, but it is much harder to play than its descendants. (I got into that series around the time DW3XL was released.)

As for me, well, I'm a lifelong video game collector, so this is a good topic for me. The real prize that I've been seeking is Panzer Dragoon Saga for Sega Saturn. I've been chasing it on E-Bay since ... the late '90s, I think, but it always gets sniped out from under me at the last second, or the price gets so high that I cannot continue bidding. Only five to ten thousand copies were ever put into print, and Sega has since lost the source code (dumbasses), so it'll never be released on Virtual Console or anything like that. A true find, one of the great unknown JRPGs, and, one day, it will be mine. *evil laughter*

Apart from that, though, I've been pretty lucky. I'm good at finding stuff that I didn't expect to find, and I almost never sell a game. Hell, the only time I've done that since 1993 was Final Fantasy XIII (PS3), which I got at launch and promptly traded in about a week later in disgust.
