This is not a problem (because I am quite happy with my experiences here, thank you), but I am curious about what CR can and cannot do in terms of images. (Aside from not hosting inappropriate content, of course.) For example, ye olde /AMP/ topic in the anime forum has thousands of pages containing tens (or hundreds) of thousands of images, all of which seem to be hosted here through the Image Upload feature on the forum instead of through third parties like Imgur, etc. I keep wondering if that topic will eventually crash a server or something due to the sheer size and quantity of data involved. Are there any long-term concerns I should keep in mind while uploading things here, or is it a non-issue? (It may well be; deep down, I still remember when I had to get creative to manage a 2 MB Hotmail inbox without running out of space, so I am still Ebenezer Scrooge when it comes to the number of KB in a pic.)

they can afford to host images, because people don't constantly click on threads to look at those images anyway.

when you think about it, they host 500mb videos for anime per episode. and hundred thousands of people are watching that 500mb episode video. if they can host that without any problem.

i'm sure images are not a problem, as 1 image is 1mb max.

The thing that I like about crunchyroll is their in-house image hosting. I've been using it for the last five years without too much hiccups, minus the occasional site maintenance of course.

Speaking as a person who has been using their community image feature for years, their image hosting feels almost indefinite for a regular user.

Besides they downscale the images if it is too big in pixels, which is a next little feature to limit ridiculous uploads; the max width is 640px.

(The only thing though is their .gif and transparent .png upload being wonky and such, which is kind of odd since they worked perfectly a couple of years ago.)

Best rule of thumb is not to be a total douche and abuse the system. Just want to say that. "LAWL"
