race card is never acceptable, in my book.

and that's my point exactly.

True, it rarely works. And I'd hate to pull it in an attempt to stop discussion. But is it not a valid concern?

The last con I went to I faced quite the problem with it. One of the staff was racist enough to merit complaints, and I had several people outright ignore me when I tried to start a conversation. True indeed, some people are unsociable, but some are more so when it concerns a different race.

It's not something I can ignore, but it's not the biggest problem ever. It's my worst experience with the anime fandom.

stereotypical moment; but anime is popular amongst geeks and slobs, pretty much like WoW and Star Wars fans.

That's why it gets a bad rep.

And I admit, I am both a geek and a slob.

People who are jerks and bullies tend to give any fandom a bad name.
People who buy those unlicensed body pillows depicting cosplayers.
People who wear socks with sandals.
People who have no sense of personal space.
People who like tasteless, horrible shows like Queen's Blade.

All AMV's are terrible.
Regardless of what anime they are using.

Elitism and hypocrisy.

We have different tastes, but we're in this together. So, it's ridiculous how many assholes there are that'll watch Lucky Star over and over and then turn around and try to make others feel bad for liking Hetalia. I use those two shows as just an example because really, you could fill in the blanks with any two shows that are popular with different groups.

Anime fandom can be better than lots of fandoms. The bad fans are the same as other fandoms' bad ones, for the most part.

Dude, underground metal fandoms? They can be the most moody, judgmental people. Haters all around, due to their already picky taste in music.

Dealing with a few SAO haters and Big 3 fan complaints is like nothing.

i didn't remember you since you changed your profile pic

i disappoint myself, lol.

I know right...he has gone emo

The last time I remember being emo was months ago when I watched The End of Evangelion lol

Have I been emo lately? That's no good. I'll have to work on that.

You might as well just say

Studio Arms is what gives Anime a bad name.

Ikki tousen, Queens Blade, that one softcore porno staring anime-batman.

Sure they made Mayou, but I think the author just told them "If you make my anime, you can decide on the size of her boobs" and they were like "I like your spunk kid! MAKE'M HUGE!"

The arrogant, obnoxious, immature, vicious, and ignorant elitist and haters of the anime fandom it can also be the same for the other fandoms too.
We also have some anime fans that seriously can't determine what is reality and what is fiction.....ALL THE TIME!!!

In every fandom there are insane fans and sane fans everywhere you look.

People still make DBZ AMV's to Linkin Park songs? I thought that was cool 14 years ago when I was...14 :P

I remember being in class after hearing the single for "One Step Closer" gushing about this new band with a unique sound who had music that I thought would go really well with a DBZ fight lol

I can't comprehend how people can shed out a ton of money on the tacky merchandise that comes with anime, specifically the figmas, why you would want to spend £100+ on some anime character with removable underwear is completely beyond me, also a reason to give the fandom as a whole a bad name.

Anything that contributes to the (unfortunate) image of anime / manga fans, particularly those of us who are male and a bit older, as pedophiles.

Seriously though, why are you trying to nail down reasons for people to be upset that people are fans of anime? It isn't unusual for an adult, geek, or everyday teen to watch the latest Dreamworks or Pixar film. Anime comes in a far larger variety with the only barrier being the transition from Japanese to English. There's really no reason to try to nail a negative stereotype of something.

This reminds me of topics on MMO websites. You know the MMO is going to suddenly lose a large sum of population when the fans of it are trying to decipher why other people might have a problem it and even worse if they're trying to come up with their own remedies.

You're entitled to an opinion. This isn't an attack on anime or it's fans. If you were offended I have nothing else to say to you.

Wasn't the topic supposed to be an attack on fans that give an "improper" interpretation?

"What are some things that make you hang your head in shame? Especially in clubs or at conventions."
"The people that.." "The person that" "The guy that" "The girl that"
