Fanservice tends to be aimed a guys, so I usually think it makes the anime worse. When looking for anime, I won't even consider it if it has the ecchi or harem tag, especially the ecchi tag. That's not always the case, though, because I can't stand reverse-harems either. If it's more than a love triangle, it starts to get a bit ridiculous. Also, fanservice tends to be things like panty shots and every "accidental" mishap that could possibly be mistaken for sexual harassment, which gets beyond annoying.

In my opinion, I just feel like if that's what a story has to do to get people to read/watch it, it must be really lacking in other things like a decent plot or characters. Thus, I feel like anything with fanservice just.. it doesn't really add anything to an anime, and usually makes it worse, rather than better.

Depends on the amount of fanservice in an anime

In moderation I think it's a good thing. If every single scene had some sort of fan service then that would definitely detract from the story or whatever underlying theme the show / series has.

I think years of anime exposure have desensitised me to it. But I just pisses me off that Ikki Tousen had 4 seasons. On the other hand, I watched the first episode of Space Dandy, and them going to a place called "Boobies" kinda put me off. There's putting some fan service to keep certain audiences interested; then there's blatant pandering.

It depends on how it is used.

Fan Service for me is a big plus. Period.
"Wah wah. This show is stupid since it has too kuch boobs or too much women liking a single guy."
You can't make people like it since I know how most of those shows end up. SUCKING. But I can't help the feeling that I should watch it. Besides I end up liking it anyway.
Queen's Blade is definitely a good example. It's a stupid show. But i watched it and besides I'm aiming to collect my fave characters figures on that series.
I can't complain though. You can't beat what the majority likes.

To be honest, it depends on the anime. If they use it too much, it gets annoying. But if an anime had some fanservice, and doesn't shove it in your face, then I don't mind it.

I have basically gotten an immunity to fanservice because it is constantly everywhere. but it gets annoying at times. If it gets in the way of a story i wont be able to take the anime seriously. otherwise i could care less

It really doesn't matter to me, UNLESS it is the entirety of the show. A little here and there doesn't matter, even shows like Rosario+Vampire don't bother me, cos it is hysterical at times. Meh, ill watch the anime regardless i guess...

It's only bad if it's constant and gets in the way of the story. The Monogatari series is a good example of how fanservice can work and not ruin the show (although Nisemonogatari had a bit much).
