OK so I've noticed that I'm not much of a crier when it comes to live action or even real life, yet when I watch anime (especially anything by key) i weep like a widow on her sons grave. I was just wondering if I'm weird or if anime has some crazy power to make you love their characters more than life itself.

Live action, no. Mostly because the acting is normally terrible. For anime, sometimes. Obviously shows like Clannad made me weep like a baby, but als Toradora made me shed a single tear. Normally no.

Anime makes me cry way more than live-action ever will.

Dunno why, either. Seems like anime feels less fake than actors in a movie.

live-action isn't really as impactful with the feels train as anime is, especially western live action shows. they seem to focus more on action and suspense.

there have been quite a few anime that made me cry like a little girl, mostly Key works. especially Air and Kanon.

I've sobbed like a little bitch at quite a few shows. Vision Of Escaflowne turned me into a gibbering wreck and Welcome to the NHK did mostly the same thing. I teared at Midori No Hibi but that was because it was sweet, not sad.

But I do cry at live-action stuff as well. It all depends on how well the actors and director pull off the moment. In all honesty I cry more at books than I do at anything visual.

it takes a lot to make me cry during a live action movie. I know that it's just a movie and it's blah whatever.

I can only recall one time I cried during an anime, it was shugo chara and where amu is sneaking ikuto around her house and whatnot...and I started bawling because I had to hide my ex-bf in my room like she did because he was kicked out of his house...just personal feels...not because of the anime...

This thread is fairly similar to this: http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-819079/what-anime-episode-made-you-cry-like-a-baby-spoilers?pg=0

Anyways, I found Makoto's arc in Kanon 06 to be sad.

If you mean if I'm able to cry cheese of how cheesy live-action is then no. And I haven't cried to any anime yet.

Nah, that's mostly for listing episodes that made you cry, not so much a discussion of whether or not anime in general is more likely to inspire tears than live action shows.

Very little makes me cry, but as I've gotten older I do find I'm a little more likely to tear up than I used to be. It's a little hard to compare because I watch so much more anime than anything else these days, but I can say that KDramas have manipulated me to tears more easily than I could have imagined, and the last thing that got my eyes all wet was a scene in Breaking Bad.

So, I think I have to conclude that I'm not any more likely to cry while watching anime than while watching anything else.

Well then, here's the thread for you:

Anime You've Cried Man-Tears to...

(I'm pretty sure someone changed the title to add "lady tears as well" after the thread was created)

So, we've got episodes that make you cry like a baby, shows that lead to man- and lady- tears, and now anime in general that makes you cry more than non-anime.

Please...no more tears.

Actually cry? Only a few times where I started choking up and get teary eyed.
