[ you mean would be criminals?]

Riiiiiiiiiight. Are you also saying people are not allowed to change after serving their time? Also, who gave him the right to circumvent the law for HIS view on the world? Who died and made him judge, jury, and executioner? No one? Yeah, that sounds about right. Nobody gave himi the right to be god, and he got what he deserved at the end (thank you Matsuda!)

[self-defense could be argued for killing Ray Penbar and the rest]

Yup. Just like any other criminal that kills cops.

[So if the world became a better place by someones actions that wouldn't matter if the person had a different agenda?]

Yes. It DOES matter. What if the world became a better place by having every living person enslaved? Would you think that is right? Crime would be down, but you have no rights or freedoms. Is that the correct way? Of course it isn't, and having Light being a selfish ass dictator that thinks he is god is by no means the right way to make the world a better place. He is scum.

[Live in fear for consequences of criminal actions? - Wow, you better just indite the entire criminal justice system with that logic]

Except Light went WELL beyond that by episode freaking 2. He is an egotistical child with a god complex that has sociopathic tendencies. He is NOT a paragon of justice. He is NOT a good person. He was NOT trying to help anyone but his own deluded ego and his own self-wroth.

[Never seen Code Geass, so no comment]

Code Geass is not the only example. How about Albert Maverick from Tiger and Bunny? The Spiral King and Anti-Spiral from Gurren Lagann? Knives Millions from Trigun? Ribbons Almark from Gundam 00? Dumb ass Tobi from Naruto? Suitengu from Speed Grapher? Kyubey from Madoka Magica? Amon from Avatar? How about freaking Lysander from Pokemon X and Y for something more recent? All of these guys are infamous ass hole villains that think that they "doing the right thing" but are actually ego stroking, dictator jerks that have homicidal, genocidal, and sociopathic tendencies and SHOULD NOT EVER be revered for their actions. Why the hell d you think the saying goes "the path to hell is paved with good intentions."

Who gave the current police and judges this right? The wealthy and the corporations. I am saying this not to say that Light was correct, moreso the fact that Light in my mind isn't any worse than the corrupt paid-for system that we have in place today. With Light you have one idealistic man versus the uber-wealthy and corporations raping the people of the world

Yup. Just like any other criminal that kills cops.

Look at all the crimes that cops get away with. It is staggering. Cops have just become another gang, only this gang is propped up by a corrupt justice system that defends its own instead of truth and justice. So cops have no higher moral authority than Light

Light was doing this by killing murders and rapists. Should you prefer people like that be let back into society, well there isn't much I can say should you support those type of people

An egotistical child with a god complex. Sounds like any of the uber-wealthy or mega-corporations. I would prefer Light to the craptastic bought and paid for system we live under today

Congratulations. You have just proven you know absolutely nothing about the justice system, and instead bringing your own personal (and wrong) politics into the mix that is not the reality of the situation at all. You deserve a cookie.

First off, I am glad to know you think that way. it is of course very wrong, but, hey, you can believe what you want. Second, being killed in the line of duty is no laughing matter at ANY point no matter what cop. They are defending other people, and get killed for it. That is borderline heroic. Are some cops corrupt? Of course they are. However, I can tell you that most are NOT like this at all and try to do the right thing. just because some people are ass holes does not mean ALL or even MOST are ass holes.

Nor can I say much to someone that supports murdering people that don't do anything but their jobs, and holding entire nations hostage over threats of death (terrorism at its finest, folks!) How is he any better than the rapists and murderers he is killing again?

An egotistical child with a god complex. Sounds like any of the uber-wealthy or mega-corporations. I would prefer Light to the craptastic bought and paid for system we live under today

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh god... That is too much...Yeah. That is exactly how corporations work. You figured out business 101. *claps* The obvious goal is to take over the world and be christened as gods instead of making money. Yup. That seems spot on. Again, please keep your rather misguided politics out of this, please. XD

Ryuk.

He tricks a second death note from the possession of the King of Shinigami and manages to start a game between some of the most intellectual people he could happen across.
Knowing that the whole game is futile, he proposes right away that he'll be the one that ends it (far before everything was getting tricky.)

Out of everyone in Death Note, Ryuk is the only one that was pulling the strings and got exactly what he wanted. Everyone else floundered about and absolutely failed in their ambitions, ruining their lives and never reaching their goals.

I.... hmm... Yeah. That is sound logic. Ryuk did play everyone for fools all to be entertained.

I was rooting for Light too. He was making the world a better place.

I sort of wanted Light to succeed as well but more so because I wanted to see what he would do with his power. He was definitely a terrible human being with a childish mindset of justice.
