Twage

You've got these numbers backward. Right now, 90% of graphic novel sales are physical, and that number is probably even HIGHER for just manga. Even in categories where digital publishing has matured, like sci-fi and romance, print still accounts for around 40% of sales. It will be years before digital remotely threatens the continued existence of physical comics.

I know physical is the dominant format, what I wrote was a hypothetical situation where digital becomes dominant like it has with PC games, not a description of the real market condition.

I know a wholesale conversion to digital is certainly not going to happen soon, but whether that will hold with smaller subsections of the publishing market, like Kodansha manga in the US specifically, depends on what happens in the market, the success of their digital excursion, and how dedicated they are to the format.

I would be very interested in the original Japanese language versions of manga being offered, even if it made the service cost more due to any additional licensing costs. The main reason I subscribe to crunchyroll in the first place is because it is the easiest way to watch subtitled rather than dubbed shows and I want to support that.

I really like the new manga section of Crunchyroll. Especially the iPhone app is really awesome.
Only too bad I can't download the manga chapters for offline viewing. I go to work with the train every day. But there is not always a good internet connection available. So often I can read half of a chapter and then I can't get any further due to bad internet connection were the train currently is...

Does the app require a wifi connection? Can you make it work without one? (like through a regular data plan)

You know one day it would be nice if you could read manga's out loud and had accessibliity options for them?

If it is like CR's mobile apps for video, it probably only works over a cellular connection if you are a premium subscriber.

I might have missed this somewhere, but is there any news on when, or if any more manga is going to be added anytime soon?

Could you add manga of the current anime shows at CRUNCHYROLL? Recently, my sister is strange should be one of the new manga, kill law kill, valvrave and nobunagun. Those are my favorite manga I'd like to have here.

They have to get licensing for manga titles. They aren't covered under the same license as their animes.

Oh, then is the anime and manga license different from each other?

Generally yes. Different studios and distributors are involved with different media types.

Lol what?

Actually that explains alot. Kind of wonky for an app. The only think I still have not figured out is why do I always see the chruncyroll TV ad. I have seen it so much I have the ad memorized. Well that and why would crunchyroll app be interested in my phone call information...
