With the advent of the Manga service, I wonder if Crunchyroll would ever try getting LNs as we'll. Maybe a future project?

Too bad the early volumes of Attack on Titan probably won't be added. (Don't get me wrong; I understand Kodansha wants us to BUY the volumes, but I kinda wish they'd add a few of the early volumes so I could sample it before buying cause I'm not blind buying that one). It's nice to see manga added, but who knows when I'll get around to reading them since my Anime backlog is just massive.

There are previews of each volume of Titan on randomhouse.com (http://www.randomhouse.com/book/218360/attack-on-titan-1-by-hajime-isayama ), Amazon, BN.com and elsewhere, plus the complete first chapter is in this ebook sampler: http://www.amazon.com/Kodansha-Comics-Digital-Sampler-UNREAL-ebook/dp/B00DM7D00U.

Ok.... Any hints on how to get it to actually work?

Primary browser: Firefox v.27 (Aurora channel). Normally have NoScript, AdBlock+ and Ghostery active, but even with all of them disabled, I still can't see anything when selecting a manga (testing on latest (free) chapter of Mysterious Girlfriend X, but also spot-checking other series).

Tried also on IE 10, not logged on. I still get nothing.

What I see on the page is:

{page header}
Mysterious Girlfriend X Simulpub

{large empty white space where the Flash object goes}

{page footer}

Current version of Flash is up to date: 11.9.900.117

Yeah, I think everyone is experiencing the same problem of the Flash not loading anything. We actually already have a couple threads about this in the Manga support sub-forum: http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumcategory-573577/manga-support ~ They might be doing some maintenance on it right now or something, since it was working fine earlier today.

I've tried clicking on the "Latest" chapter by itself, as well as under "Simulpub."

Absolutely no image or reader shows up. I get a beautiful gray browser background, though.

I'm an anime member, if it matters. I'm not running any adblocker that I know of.

Well, that explains everything!! *mutters*

Guess I'll have to stick with MS for a while until this is resolved. Keep up the work, crunchyroll!!

MS actually pays people to scanlate. They are the worst of the worst. If you'd choose them over a legal, free option, you're the problem here.

I'd drop MS like a hot potato if CR can get their service rolling out as soon as they can. The problem here is that CR hyped their service too much with little crucial information divulged. Had they notified the number of countries unavailable for the service before it even began, I would be more reasonable with them. Instead, they went ahead and released the service without any prior notification about the unavailable service.

This is a terrible, rushed move on CR's part.

How exciting! I hope this works for you guys and more manga publishers join. If this works, it'd be a great way to combat a lot of the piracy happening online.

Yes, the news broke less than a week before the service launched. In the news on this site, it was mentioned that it would be to 170 countries (unlike the US/Canada alone that most legit online manga ventures have started with), with a list of some of the countries that would be excluded.

Had they notified the number of countries unavailable for the service before it even began,

They actually did note it would be available in 170 countries. So obviously it would be unavailable in about 20. They listed some countries it would be unavailable in. Evidently you live in one of the other ones in the twenty or so:

(South Korea, Indonesia, Vietnam, Algeria, Lebanon, Belgium, Brazil, China, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Malaysia, Luxembourg, Mexico, Morocco, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand)

I would be more reasonable with them. Instead, they went ahead and released the service without any prior notification about the unavailable service.

You seem to be stretching for something to complain about, when your real complaint is that you live in one of those twenty or so countries ...

... and that does suck, of course ~ the countries would tend to be countries where there are manga fans, since those are the countries where a publisher is most likely to have standing relationships with existing licensors.

I hope they are able to expand into some of those countries over time, since the more countries they are available in, the more successful the service will be, and the more likely they are to have a large enough subscriber base to let them expand into the niche of manga that I want to see rescued, following the collapse of the JManga venture.

But really, as far as "don't give a lot of advance hype, leaving it vague that my country will be blocked out until the final release" ... in real world time, they didn't do that at all. Advance hype is months in advance, not starting to release information the same week as the launch of the service.

Actually, the problem is that they never updated this particular article prior to the launch:

http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2013/10/26/crunchyroll-to-digitally-distribute-kodansha-manga

170 countries is a lot. You can't exactly blame people thinking they would be getting their services right on launch day since it could have been their country getting it or not. The article had never been updated to notify which 20 or so countries wouldn't be getting it prior to the launch. CR only bothered to notify after the launch.

You have no idea how painstaking it was for me to try to access the manga service yesterday only to find out it was unavailable for me without any prior notice to the launch.

"Want to read your favorite manga on Crunchyroll? Get a All-Access Free Trial and start reading!"
Well.. Since we cannot access, could you guys get rid of that ad in areas that cannot access, because it's false advertisement and just painful to see. Thank you!

Congratulations!, manga is not as censored as anime, that makes a huge difference in many (if not all) titles like Rouroni Kenshin (manga has more blood, etc.).

I must be dreaming, this news is too good to be true. # _# Especially a selection including so many extraordinary titles. O _0 And the best part is that it's caught up to the most recent stuff in Japan. No more having to wait for months or years for some of these series!
