i think CR could try and get a license to distribute the digital version of the Japanese magazines - that way people are actually up-to-date with the current manga releases. it would probably expensive and not many people can even understand the language anyways, so chances of things like this happening is slim to none.

I was just looking for the Japanese versions of the manga too! Still not available. Also, I tried to simply turn the English subtitles off, and couldn't see a way to do it!

You can only disable subtitles on the Flash web player.

Super bump! I want manga in Japanese too. One of the nice things about anime is I can kill two birds with one stone by being entertained while also getting second language practice. I really want the same thing for manga... without that feature, anime is really my only motivation to use Crunchyroll.

Sad truth. Anyway, I would like to vote this idea up and to say that I would gladly upgrade to the appropriated subscription! If enough users express interest in japanese manga, maybe the CR Staff might start making some viability studies.

I'm new to crunchyroll and I am a little disapointed to find out that japanese is not available.
Any news about it?

if you want to read raw manga, your only legal options are either buying the digital version from sites like Amazon and Kinoppy (from the Kinokuniya company) (there are other, Japanese sites that also offer a digital version), or buy a physical version online or through a local retailer (recommended). if you want to see the first few pages to decide whether the manga is for you, search
manga name in Japanese + 試し読み
it doesn't always work, but when it does, you'll be able to read the first few pages.

edit: some manga series might be available online for free, but those are the esxception

Manga in Japanese with full kanji (the amount considered normal for common adult liturattur) and hideable furigana. I do not think most people just like that will be able to learn the korrekt reading and pronounciation of the kanji, with just relaying on manga with furigana. This would not be my primary resource I would much more encourage the use of flash cards, or any other memorization techniques that works for the individual. There may for instance be a webpage with no other purpose of existence then teaching Japanese kanji. Therefore this would only be ment as a supplement from the point of view that more study resources are always better only one.

That with removable English as well as Japanese subtitels when watching anime section, with the added feature of stop motion subtitle settings during anime allowing you to watch a anime subtitle for subtitle as the anime pauses after each subtitle has been said with the subtitles still showen. Thus you can combine reading and lisening exercise in one exercise.

Sorry. I have not read the last comments. These are just some ideas for the makers of crunchyroll I have had for quite long. Basicly my post is a little random.

I'm a Japanese student and would love to see some manga in Japanese. I have hearing loss so I can't interpret the language well without starting and stopping more than I should have to, but reading is my stronger point. I still have a lot to learn there, and it would be GREAT practice since there's not a local shop for me to buy original Japanese manga at. I've imported a few, but wow, expensive. The shipping costs more than the manga, yeesh.
