Thoughts/Impressions

Over the years I saw some of an episode here and there but I kept putting off actually watching the show until earlier this year. Once I started, it was pretty hard to stop and I ended up watching over 500 episodes in 2 weeks. While it isn't the most moving or thought provoking show I have ever seen, it does a more than adequate job of remaining entertaining after over 600 episodes. It boasts a sizable collection of likable characters and fun to watch battle scenes. I am excited to see that the show is now available here, my favorite place to watch anime.

It's okay so far, but It's hard to marathon (i'll occasionally drop in 2-3 episodes.)

I'll probably get to watching this show someday with the large amount of episodes. Most of my friends enjoy it though so I'll definitely look forward to it. But yeah, this was surprising. I guess this would also be CR's final mystery box today as it just got filled by One Piece.

If we get the backlog, I guess I'll probably start at the beginning and start it. Lemme tell you, there was no way I was going to watch this from the beginning on hulu with ads every five minutes. No ads on CR? Much more willing to at least give it a chance.

Most likely subbed, but the news release doesn't specifically say.

The simulcast will likely be subbed. I wouldn't be surprised though if Funimation gave them access to their dub eventually since it can be watched on their website and hulu anyways.

The simulcasted episodes will certainly be subbed and I am 99.99% positive that the back episodes will be subtitled as well.(since CR's bread and butter is subtitled anime)

I did and I'm in the 500's now. Completely with four commercial break with every episode

This is fantastic. Onepieceofficial does a good job but not Crunchyroll level of good. I mean, I have to endure commercials, medium resolution, an old opening, and lag.
But now my dream came true!
Hopefully this means Crunchy's main anime they always focus on will stop being Naruto, too. xD

I really can't believe that they actually have the rights to One Piece. This is so amazing. Now I don't have to watch it on my crappy laptop! And I'll be supporting the anime as well now (even though I did buy all of the current season box sets...). Happy!!

Ah One Piece, the 3rd anime I've watched. Tips for people who are attempting to watch this all the way through. The quality of the anime will gradually evolve, though the artstyle won't change that much, It may seem alot at first but when you're halfway through the anime you'll be wishing there was more as the pacing of episodes kinda slows down later though there's a very good reason for that, it's so they don't need to make fillers as they won't catch up to the manga that quickly.
The plot itself may seem kinda silly at first but the worldbuilding is so great and the story becomes very complex. Anything that happens earlier in story that has been briefly touched upon will be fully explained somewhere later.

Doesn't that picture seem kinda spoiler-ish?

Like many anime, One Piece has strengths and weaknesses, Luffy is a pretty awesome main character because he isn't completely boring. One Piece sells a ridiculous amount of merchandise and manga, no anime has ever come near One Piece and One Piece is seen as the virtual successor to Dragon Ball Z and beyond, the whole facade that One Piece, Bleach, and Naruto are on the same level is false in terms of sales and popularity.

I definitely recommend this anime, It's really funny, the fillers are great because unlike certain anime, One Piece's fillers are more focused on comedy rather than seriousness, such as the Navarone arc and therefore have a higher enjoyability because it doesn't take itself as seriously as other filler arcs because no one can take fillers seriously since it's basically fan-fiction.

Nami is an awesome female heroine, greedy, self-centered, angry, egotistical, money-grubbing and basically the complete opposite of what most animes attempt to do when it comes to making their females look like perfect little angels.

And my favorite fight would be Ussop Vs Luffy because it's so fucking sad, and it's pinning the two biggest comedy relief characters into a very serious dramatic fight that is completely genuine.

It's true that One Piece's beginnings aren't as great as what it is now, so bear with it, the show really picks up around the Alabasta Arc, but the best arc that people usually think is Water 7/Enies Lobby arc.

And If anyone is scared at the number of episodes One Piece has, I just want to say that I am very jealous of ANYONE who hasn't watched the show and is about to watch it, I would give my left leg just to erase my mind and re-watch the whole thing again

I was discouraged at the number of episodes when I first thought of watching. Good thing I looked past it because I have thoroughly enjoyed the series. The only problem is that now I am reading the manga and has made it less interesting to watch new episodes since I know what is coming.
