Do you think Crunchyroll keeps getting better?
Posted 11/2/13
Well, first there was the manga news, which took me by surprise as I never expected CR to have a manga section. Today, I just found out they're going to stream One Piece!

It's like 2 great additions within a short frame of time!

Compared to 2 years ago (which I first joined), I think those two additions are big improvements for me! As there will be more reasons for me to visit this site!
(Then there are things like contests and community contests which I sometimes participate in)

What do you think?

Yes.

A little, I'm impressed to a degree, but not interested in the manga reading online here (I'd much rather stick to reading actual physical volumes bought from bookstores near me as I've always done) and One Piece is not available to watch on here over here in the UK for me either as it is anyway due to licensing limitations

I'm personally on here purely for watching other animes & socialising only, always have been and always will be

CR keeps getting better, except for removal of the watchlist. Their interface is good for a computer, which is the way I use it. Easy to find shows. Nice mix of shows available.

yes, because even tho I don't read manga or watch one piece I know that many people do. So if crunchyroll can expand its user base the people who make anime get more money, less people use illegal streaming sites. And if crunchyroll continues to be successful I can meet more people who love anime like I do, watch even more new titles

I think it would be even better if Shinji brought back CR CHAT!!!

I'll be honest I'm only here to watch Naruto Shippuden, but if I ever get tired of it I just go and browse the forums (hence the reason I dont have many CR points!)
Cruncyroll has let me expand my anime collection I guess you could say and, I find it SO much easier to connect with the people here than the people at my school so I'm really thankful for Crunchyroll.
No denying it's a really good website and it does keep getting better and of course it has changed over time but I've been really happy with Crunchyroll from the start and I will most likely continue this website when Naruto (if it ever does) ends!

Well I haven't been around for that long, but I feel it has improved since I first registered. Sadly due to licensing restrictions - 70 % of the shows I've watched has been through other medias.

However I have no problem paying $6.95 monthly towards CR, and my hope for the future is that we'll see less restrictions.

Well, seeing as they've finally got everything I wanted to watch this season licenced in the UK, I'd say yes. Unfortunately they're also getting more dangerous.

It's my usual argument about crunchyroll vs piracy. We give them money so they become more powerful and license more things in our countries - that's how it works. Unfortunately they're also using the bragging rights that this power entails to fight off piracy before it becomes beneficial for us all to do so. Effectively cutting our legs off before we get to the top. This is the first season ever that they've managed to get everything I'm wanting to watch so I'm not confident that legal streaming has gotten to the point that we can go without piracy. Not to mention that old things can't be streamed legally.

Crunchyroll keeps getting better but at the same time it's killing old standards. We're not yet ready for the harsh new world where anime is brought to the west by corporations rather than the hard work of volunteers who are trying to bring more people into the hobby. To replace something old with something new you have to make sure that the new thing is actually better than the old - which right now isn't the case. When trains replaced horse & cart they did it because trains were the better option. Currently crunchyroll has too many drawbacks to be a replacement - it's simply competition at the moment. That itself is a major step but it's getting ahead of itself.

that's really deep (no sarcasm).

i'm pretty naïve, I always see CR as the organization that has anime fans as their first interest/priority. but it's kinda true, the more power you have, the more corrupted you become...
