To my understanding, headsets have a built in microphone? So i guess im using a headset but for all practical purposes i really only see these as over the ear headphones.

Mine are the SONY branded studio headphones in the $200 range. I really like them.

I'm a audiophile on a budget, so my setup is a dedicated soundcard (Asus' Xonar 7.1-channel DX) in place of my on-board sound.

Gaming headset: Steelseries Siberia V2 Frost Edition. I absolutely LOVE how comfortable this set is. The sound is fantastic on my games, too. I can go for hours without even noticing they're on my head. xD

Music/Movies/Anime headphones: Sennheiser HD280. The clarity on these is top notch. Worth every penny. <3

my current headphones are Audio Technica ATH-M50 I think I got them on sale for $108


the best sounding ones I've had were some Etymotic ER-4S but that was mostly for portable use
my favorite (which sounded NEARLY as good IMO but were more comfortable and open sounding) were AKG K-501, sadly they've stopped making these.

crunchyroll seems to have pretty compressed dynamic range on everything so you're not going to get amazing audio an anything streamed here. It could be that shows that air in Japan just have compressed dynamic range though.

ASUS Xonar Essence One DAC/Headphone AMP - $600

I use a Hi-Fi set up. Yes they break the wallet. I'm not big on BOSE, though I have a pair for travel. I cut to the end of the chase. Haha. I have a professional condenser microphone for usage while recording audio and singing--the AudioTechnica AT2020 w/ Pop filter.

So no headsets for me.

I got the Sony Pulse headset that I use for gaming and music (I like the bassimapct feature it has). When I'm on laptop looking at videos though I just my earbuds. Use to use earphones (cheap ones mind you) but found them breaking way too fast, with my earbuds I've had them for almost 2 years and no problems.

I got some TDK headphones too lazy to bring out cost, but i got them free anyways. Both pads are snapped off the headband ( cuz i stepped on them >_<) But the quality is great, Im a music producer so the sounds it delivers will suffice.
