Hey guys, haven't looked whether there was a topic available to discuss this here (my bad), but I'm seriously annoyed that there is no native app for LG smart TV's.

To CR mods / owners / developers, can you not get onto it and provide an app? Sick of connecting my laptop up to my TV / switching on my loud ass Xbox to watch anime.

If I can get Netflix / Lovefilm, I should be able to get CR. Anything in the pipeline?

Rant over. Just annoyed, because I'm sure there's an app on Panasonic / Samsung...

PLEASE!

Moved to the Suggestions / Feedback forum in the Help section, as that's where CR support looks for this kind of suggestion to pass along to the people who make the decisions.

I can't speak to Lovefilm (although I understand it is now owned by Amazon, which would give it access to serious resources), but Netflix would probably be running on your toaster if it had a screen and an internet connection.

Right, well if you look at the range of apps already available, I am surprised that there is no native app. Every app I am able to use (even sky via Now TV which must use some version of silver light) on xbox, PC and android is available on LG's platform, bar a CR app. Perhaps trial something for premium members and see how it goes? Has something been tried yet?

I'd really love an app to the LG tv aswell, I don't want to pay another months subscription just so i can watch it from my xbox.
And since i live with my parents i can't move my PC into the living room just like that, and a 22" screen compared to 55" is a pretty big difference.

I would love to see CR app on my LG DVD player's smart app line-up. That would be a great addition to my Netflix membership. I think CR is slow in making their app available to certain devices--if you have noticed that CR releases their app to popular devices--especially big brand names. I am not sure why they cannot make it any easier for us, LG device owners. I own LG TV and LG DVD player.

If you've seen a CR app on a Sony smart TV, it isn't a native app:
http://www.crunchyroll.com/devices

As you will note, only Panasonic and Samsung are listed.

Some TVs and devices have a third party CR app by Flingo (on my WDTV LIve, it one of many channels listed under their "Launchpad" app), but even if your LG has that, it doesn't support login.

UPDATE: I've confirmed that LG TV's should have the Flingo Launchpad app.

"Even Roku" makes it sound like an afterthought. Keep in mind Roku has been around before smart TVs existed, and CR's app for it has been around since December 2010.

You still have to subscribe to Crunchyroll to use the app on smart tv's. The way it works on my Samsung tv is I had to register the tv with Crunchyroll by, inputting a code displayed on the smart tv app to the register devices section on my pc. Watching Crunchyroll through a smart tv is sort of a premium member perk.

That is also a good point. All of the apps beginning with the PS3 app release have been premium only.

LG TV's should have the third party Flingo app (normally called "Launchpad" that includes a number of services, including CR. That app only supports ad-supported free viewing, as it doesn't support login.

That said, If one wants to view ad-supported free viewing on their TV without hooking up their computer, the Roku is the way to go (although until the new app is pushed out, it is limited to 480p).

So the star next to my name means i'm not a premium member?
What i mean is i don't want to pay for Xbox live just to wach anime, hope you undestand that.

A correction to something I said earlier:

All of the apps beginning with the PS3 app release have been premium only.

While grabbing a link to answer another question, I noticed an exception to this: The OUYA app.

I expect this is because it is essentially an updated Android app (with HD support and OUYA controller support), and of course the Android app supports ad-supported free viewing.

The interesting point here is: I have tested the LG Smart TV (LG 47LN5700 [2013]) web Browser on CR and it work fine, just that it does not have the subtitles. CR should be focus more on hardware support and services since the Internet is no longer only in the PC
