I personally try not to have my j-pop or anime music at full blast with my headphones on in public. I only do it when I'm in the car with someone from my household.

Is it bad to hide it?

It depends on what type of person you are

Personally I don't care what the hell anyone thinks of my music, and people respect me enough to not care

and whenever I want to listen to anime music, I'll listen to it publicy as long as it doesn't disturb anyone who's studying or something; feel free to express yourself whenever you're comfortable with it br0

nope i play it loud and proud. i even sing along. it's good to be different and proud of your uniqueness, and if they have a problem with that, joke's on them. there's nothing to hide, i love j-pop/rock and that's all that matters to me. i don't care what others think

I put it on but not blasting it, don't want to hurt my ears to much. I'm sure people know I listen to Japanese music

Why should I hide it? if someone has a problem with the things I like, they can suck it up while I do what I enjoy.

I hide all my SKE48 and AKB48 stuff from my friends. They think anyone who likes that stuff is a pedophile. Even though the girls I like in the group are my age or sometimes older. MATSUI RENA!!!

Well, I don't hide it but I don't play it to other people. In situations where I might tell someone about a song I've found or that I like I'd never choose anything sung in Japanese mostly because a lot of the people I know can't stand the language or lose interest because they don't know what the lyrics are saying.

I always listen to my music through my headphones, anyway. My mum listens to her music on the radio throughout the house and it annoys me, my brother, and my regularly visiting grandma so I try not to do the same.

Hmm.. Since most of my friends are anime fans, we just blast out Jpop and Anime songs randomly all the time. But then again, I would never do that in front of my parents or anything. So I guess it depends on if you are comfortable with the person you are with?

You need to be more open!!! What else is an otaku for?? Be proud for your taste of music. I personally am a huge huge fan of kpop and dang gurl/guy whatever. I put it on random peoples heads full blast on headphones! Some say "WTF IS THIS!!" and some say "ohhh this is catchy!" just be open and confident.

Well, I'm not exactly hiding it, but I'm not going full blast either. I listened to some kalafina pretty loudly on the bus once, though. An old lady commented on the "very pretty music" i was listening to. I apologized and asked if i disturbed her, but she didn't mind. So not everyone finds it odd, it seems.
