I am totally not hiding it. when i'm in public and waiting for someone, i'll full blast my headphones because i hate waiting.. and when i'm at our school especially with my friends, we will put it on a speaker and full blast it, some will says "please turn off that alien songs, do you even understand it???" and then we says" of course it has translation you idiot.."... we,my friends and i, just love kpop and jpop so much.

Hell no! If I'm going out in public, I'm going to blast songs from AKB48 until the cops pull me over

Eh I like music from lots of different cultures, I'm just as willing to play something Japanese as American, French, Spanish, or Russian. Ive played Tatu loudly plently of times, same as Abington Boys schools, Kugumiya Rie's music, or Kawada Mami

It's quite rare that I listen to j-pop in public but when I do I feel like everyone can hear it even on the quietest level.
I try to think up excuses in case anyone comes up to me and asks what I'm listening to! I try to just listen to it at home and I'm happy with that.

I don't usually hide it, but then again, being Chinese, people assume all Asians come from one big race and don't say anything regardless of if I'm listening to C-Pop, K-Pop, J-Pop, or J-Rock.

Nope... I drive my car to and from work with my music collection from anime or Vocaloid at full blast . and in some occasions, at work, where all my co-workers have gotten used to my music preference just like my family. Its pretty fun when you stumble with someone who is curious and ends up liking it.

while I don't really have j-pop or much foreign music on my music devices I would play it as loud as I want

Seeing as my favorite headphones are My Little Pony based (they have Vinyl Scratch on them and have DJ Pon3 written across the top) people are going to judge anyway so I'll play my music how I want

I don't have a car so I couldn't blast my J-Pop or anime soundtracks while driving or anything. And when I listen to music I always use headsets. Not so I can hide what I'm listening to but so it doesn't drown in the noise around me; it helps focus the audio to me (since I watch and listen to things by myself) and I can tune out others around me. So...umm...to answer your question: I don't go flaunting it. I do what I do. I won't get in the face of others and advertise "Hey! Look at what I'm listening to!" but I won't hide it either.

Is it bad to hide it?

Why be afraid? Just because someone said something is bad doesn't make it bad. Just because someone said something is good doesn't mean its good. Realise that everyone has a different opinion and nobody's HAS to be the same.

It's not bad to hide it.

But personally, I wouldn't bother hiding it. IT'S MYYY MUSIC. So the rest of the world can get the heck out unless they're helping me find more of the nice music I listen to

Not really. My friends are not into the same music as me though, so when im around them i listen to rap most of the time, then when im around my bro i listen to metal. By myself i listen to J-pop/rock.

No...I actually shared the theme to Level-E and Gantz with all my FB friends. Suprised at how many people enjoyed it. Plus they got a kick outta learning Chiaki Kuriyama was Gogo Yubari in Kill Bill Vol. 1. If you're still worried about what people think of the type of music you listen to, then you're too young.

I've been waiting for a topic like this! anyway, i tend to blast music wherever i go, at school, grocery store, and even sometimes at church (shh) I don't care what people think about my music, i've even found a lot of people who actually are curious about it and i show them songs now and then xD. I have fallen in love with j-pop/rock/metal/etc over the last year!

Oh god yes. This is one of the primary reasons I still use headsets over speakers, even after I moved into my own place.

Absolutely not, but it's not that I'm shoving in peoples face either. I always use headphones when I'm out in public, but I don't go out of my way to hide it. If somebody asks, then I tell them straight out what I'm listening to.

I just don't believe that I should feel shame for something I like. Honestly I don't listen to much in English in the first place, it's usually Japanese or Korean (Some French, some Russian). I don't care if nobody else likes it but me, as long as they respect my choices.
