Since it’s a vague question, I can’t guarantee it’s on the same subject matter that you’re looking for, but here’s my response.

Through human eyes, anything can be justified as it’s all a matter of perception & to be human is to conceive. With the way humanity has chosen to excel at how it exists, you’re right to call it arrogance. We have created ourselves to be so important that an ultimate power, a god, stands beside us, giving us the right to whatever we so desire. We are the creators we cherish & curse, we are the cruelty we hate & the kindness we worship. Our minds are more devious than to accept that though, because it’s not the dead who feel loneliness.

Humanity is talking themselves into justifications all the time. It’s not always as extreme as a cult, but it might as well be. We’re trying to avoid that we’re animals, not gods & we cannot perceive everything. We cannot justify death, as it’s a matter of life. We can only take responsibility for how we live & who we are.

Why do we abstract ourselves from humanity by asking "Why do humans.." instead of asking why "we" or "society" or even "people" do something, or think something?

By Justify you mean people who try to minimize death, call it natural or sometimes even good? Avoid the suffering and evil which is death? I find primarily it the oriental religions and some new ones that try to make death something good, like Hinduism or Bahia.

Pacifism's all well and good until you meet an opponent who insists not only on engaging in violence against you, but also on continuing to do so until they die themselves. Once you meet such an opponent the idea that all killing is uniformly unethical withers away in a puff of harsh reality.
