Because sometimes the Anime gets it wrong

Look at Rosario + Vampire

The Anime completely screwed it up and turned a good series into Fanservice trash.

Sometimes it's not as blatant as that but there are scenes that just don't translate well to Anime. For some reason they loose a lot of the impact they had in the manga. Hikaru no Go is a good example of that. Some of the most powerful imagery in the manga just didn't translate well into the anime.

Beyond that, a lot of time the anime doesn't finish the story. They hit a break point and then just make up an ending while the Manga continues onward. Usually this involves an ambiguous final battle that doesn't actually resolve anything and the main villain is given some "final form" which 9 times out of 10 is just a glowing and naked sort of non-design

and lastly there are a lot of great manga that never get animated like Psyren

Why the heck would you read manga when you can watch anime? I simply cannot comprehend this. Yes i know that there has to be manga to be anime but i simply refuse to do it. The visual animation is simply 10x better.

Because a lot of people prefer reading over watching something visually. I am one of those people.

Also like others have stated there is probably 10x more manga out there than what is adapted. Probably even more than that.

That is completely your opinion there. For someone who prefers to read over watching something, the reverse is true.

Also Manga can "sometimes" be a little bit more lenient with content than Anime because of Studio restrictions.

Plus no the movie is always better.

Yeah.... No.

There have been countless horrible book to movie renditions. But since I can't tell if you're just a troll or not, i'm not going to bother listing any.

Not to mention it still comes down to personal opinion. While to one person it could be a great movie, to another its utter garbage.

A lot of manga have scenes that don't make it into the anime and others have "true" endings or better endings. In other words, the writers original intention for the story. At least that's been my experience with shows like... let's say Fate/Stay Night for example.

Let's also say you're a Yuri fan, you HAVE to read manga since anime doesn't pay much attention to the genre.

No no... I don't mean girls just getting all touchy with each other and random kisses. I mean romantic yuri stories.

I'm not sure about lame but yes, taboo. Now that I think about it though there are many series that have yuri in them as a sub-genre or it's implicit.

Ga Rei Zero - Yuri relationship
Strike Witches - Implicit
Vividred Operation - Implicit
Dragonaut the Resonance - Implicit
Shattered Angles
Madoka Magica
Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha
YuruYuri
Saki
and more...

Oh... Another good reason to read manga or at least keep it in mind is for Dojinshi.

Why do I read manga over watching anime?
Simple.
I like to read, more than watch, and I do watch quite a few series.
