I just want to encourage everybody if you can to send your thoughts, donations, volunteer hours, and wishes to the Philippines, whatever you can and what's in your capacity, I'm sure it would be a great help. The Philippines is an incredibly poor country, and they were only just recently rocked by earthquakes, and now a succession of typhoons and tropical storms that have destroyed roads, infrastructures and so many lives. It's a desperate situation there right now, and they could really use all the help they can get.

Here are some different ways to donate and help out:

The Red Cross

United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef)

Care.org

Doctor's without Borders

The Salvation Army

Anything you can do to help is sure to make a difference. Thank you, and I wish for the best for the citizens of the Philippines.

Well, I can't say I'm the bleeding heart type. OP seems intelligent though, so I gave it a look. I'm curious about Onibrotonel's question as well. You seem relatively new to CR.

I'm a weathered and weary world traveler from the United States (born in California, live in Texas). You haven't seen me post on here before? I've been around a while (a little over a year) though I normally post on news articles and the anime discussion forum (not in here though).

These sorts of natural disasters are terrible, especially for impoverished nations, and I'm empathetic I guess. It hits me in the gut when major events like this happen, and since I've been able to visit a few really poor countries in the past, I can only imagine this is like pouring salt on an open wound. Some of the footage I've seen has also given me that not-so-good sinking feeling, of people discovering the bodies of family members who weren't able to escape some of the flooding... oof. It brought my mind back to the asian Tsunami in 2004, as well as the Tsunami in Japan 2 years ago, which I also made similar sorts of posts for on other sites at the time.

I don't want anyone to feel guilty or bad if they can't do anything directly to help (though if you can, please do!) but at least recognizing the tragedy and wishing for the best for the Philippines, I think that's better than turning away.

Yes. We should also not forget what happened in Haiti.

Please help the Philippines people or at least keep them in your prayers. My family that lives in Tacloban City are suffering. My aunt and cousin are missing. Anything will do. Thank you.

Yeah i'll make sure I send them my prayers

Yeah, I am sending all of my good thoughts to the Philippines. That way buildings will be reconstructed, the injured will be healed, the dead will be resurrected, and everyone around me will think that I am the embodiment of Jesus.

I do wish those people the best. I'm glad there is help being given. If people can't donate in money, they can donate in prayers, well wishes...etc.

We all cannot give, but we can give what we can.

yep they're now rioting for the food, coz it has been almost 1 week since the typhoon came.
most of our news are about typhoon victims.
and imagine some dead people are still there rotting...
i think the progress is too slow thou they're doing their best to give food, evacuate people, etc.
US army and some foreigners are helping also just to make it fast.

thou i cannot give big amount of money, all i can do is to pray them.
