Hey guys, so I've been marathoning a TV series called Catfish and I recently, out of curiosity, actually took the time to image search a couple of my facebook and crunchyroll friends` profile pictures and other images to see if that really was who we are made to believe they are. Guess what? Alot of them are images taken from someone else entirely.

SECOND GUESS IT PEOPLE. You'd be surprised to see exactly how many there are claiming to look like something they are not.

I really don't think it is a problem outside of dating. Who cares how they look if they are just your friends.

Sometimes it's better not knowing what a person really looks like.

Ah, love that show! I'd be surprised if many people use their real pictures on here, really, but I don't mind. If it was someone I was wanting to be more than friends with, I'd want to see the real person, but if not.. eh, it's up to them how to show up.

The thing is that they are posing as someone else and using another persons picture as their identity... is that fair for the real person? No. Is that fair for the people who believe that that is you? No.

Must suck for all those famous folk who's pictures get a lot used then, eh? Considering possible reasons it's a chance that it can be taken as posing, but it's certainly a long-shot to say they are taking that person's identity. There's a lot more that make a person than their face.

Looking at it another way: imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. A not so serious person can look on it as someone likes their face enough to use it. Hell, I'd certainly be flattered. And if they are actually trying to claim to be me, it's easily enough debunked because who could possibly know me better than myself. It's not like I have an evil clone out to get me... right?

...

...RIGHT!? ._.;;

Quite frankly most of the internet doesn't care about whether it's right or wrong. ^-^ I on the other hand dislike it but I put up animal pictures instead of other people. xD

When you consider that most of the males have anime female profile pics and some of the females have anime male pics...

The other thing is that the internet has been about anonymity for years.
It hasn't been till recent, especially with the cyber-bullying, that the social networking sites, specifically Google owned sites, have been removing most of it.
Even then, stock photos are easy to find, and people still want to be what they are not just to try obtain some 5 seconds of internet fame.

Keep in mind that some people are miserable in real life and it's only through the faceless internet where they find some moments of happiness.
Yes, in some cases that moment of happiness is trolling or putting down others on the internet...

well it probably has to do with people having ridiculous standards nowadays. Pictures of beautiful men and women dominate the internet and belittles some people into not wanting to show themselves for fear of rejection.
