I understand what you mean.. then again, I also felt bad because until recently I was using a picture of myself that was 12 years old, which is also false advertising in its own way...

But, in general I guess I don't expect anyone on a fun forum to have their real faces showing. I get to know people on here by what they say, not what their avatar is.

Let's put this is some other perspective (because there's always is. I have to say this for the quiet behalf ones):

We're not surprised that the OP is an attractive person.

So then what about people who are very dedicated cosplayers? They dress and act as if they are someone else and they don't do it on the internet. In cosplaying you are using a characters identity as your own but I doubt most of the people on this forum would say that is wrong.

Hey guys, so I've been marathoning a TV series called Catfish and I recently, out of curiosity, actually took the time to image search a couple of my facebook and crunchyroll friends` profile pictures and other images to see if that really was who we are made to believe they are. Guess what? Alot of them are images taken from someone else entirely.

SECOND GUESS IT PEOPLE. You'd be surprised to see exactly how many there are claiming to look like something they are not.

You can save their image and do an image search on google images. You just have to click the little camera in the search bar in google and it searches for that image. Usually if there are no others, its usually legit

What does that have to do with a REAL persons identity? Ive cosplayed Kurisu and SeeU but that means nothing compared to pretending to be a person who I'm not. I'm talking about the average person stealing the identity of someone just as average.

Well, it checks for duplicate images. So if there is only that one image, then most likely that user is the owner of that image. So if it's a picture of them, and it's the only one (no duplicates - other then related accounts) then they own that image, most likely.

Must suck for all those famous folk who's pictures get a lot used then, eh? Considering possible reasons it's a chance that it can be taken as posing, but it's certainly a long-shot to say they are taking that person's identity. There's a lot more that make a person than their face.

Looking at it another way: imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. A not so serious person can look on it as someone likes their face enough to use it. Hell, I'd certainly be flattered. And if they are actually trying to claim to be me, it's easily enough debunked because who could possibly know me better than myself. It's not like I have an evil clone out to get me... right?

...

...RIGHT!? ._.;;

I'm pretty sure there's a difference. There's a reason for why famous people are categorized as being a product for the public. Me having a picture of G Dragon as my profile pic and me PRETENDING to be G Dragon are two very seperate things
