The waiting game would be a lot easier for us UK folk if we knew when the Apps would be released.

If you knew the date, it wouldn't be much of a game!

We have enough games on our PS3s (and PS4s for those who early adopted). ;-) Now we wants our Japanese Cartoons. :-p

OK, I already have the PS3 app via a US PSN account, but that just makes it all the more confusing. The app works. But the whole Anime PS3 app thing makes it sound like the Sony-affiliated service either wants to be the only UK Anime opp or at least the first.

Which is a whole load of [redacted] anyway, being and anyone really wanting to watch as much legal anime as possible will be at least considering both subscriptions (and both apps)

Problem is, though, that then this now looks like a case of "Business Discussions". So nobody's talking, even though people have been asking the questions for several months.

I don't want to create a US PSN account just to download a Crunchyroll app. Honestly it's just speculation to if it actually is a business related problem. We won't really know for sure until Crunchyroll update us on the situation.

I don't really enjoy watching anime sitting at my PC and want to watch on my TV. I'm thinking of getting an apple TV just for crunchyroll but I don't think I can justify it just for that 1 purpose .

Well, the thing is that the original Press Release about Animax did have them claiming they'd be the exclusive Anime VOD service on the PS3...

...yet, even after that, CR still say it's on their roadmap.

Either one side isn't telling the truth, or both sides are only telling half the story.

Other alternatives are that CR doesn't know that Animax has the UK market exclusive, or Animax is taking advantage of the fact that it will be exclusive at the time of launch (or at least they had reason to believe so).

I assume you are referring to this press release. If so, the wording is a bit ambigous, as it is states, "...and is planned to expand onto Playstation in the coming months, to become the exclusive anime VOD service provider on PS3" (no "in the UK" appended to the end, as one would expect).

It would help if they would state what's stopping them from getting it onto the UK PSN store. Are Sony going to charge you a lot of money to have it done? Are you worried about the servers going dead with the influx of hungry UK customers? Are your rolls not crunchy enough?

Before I go to bed I do watch a couple of episodes of anime using the Crunchyroll app on my phone. The screen is pretty dull and the speakers are even worse. Watching anime on my Vita would be a massive improvement on the experience and I really hope that it finally gets released. Someone commented that it was imminent since North America has it.
