There is some bad advice on this thread.

Buy from Mandarake.
It's a network of stores originally based in Akiba. Goes from the store to you, no middleman.
Mandarake is best for stuff that is hard to get, rare, or is already released.
If it's on preorder or just out, buy from Cruncyroll or Amiami.
Mecha stuff, hit Hobby Link Japan.

Ebay and Amazon have terrible prices, most of the things I buy are 33-50% cheaper on Mandarake.

Mandarake: it's sitting around a store in Akiba, they want to get rid of it price
Ebay: they know it's rare, and will screw you price

Crunchyroll's own store is a good place to start. The prices are fair, and the Deal of the Day is actually a very good deal, usually.

I also use AmiAmi and Big in Japan. They're very easy to navigate and have a big selection, bigger than CR's currently.

Mandarake is also good, but the navigation takes some getting used to. You can find nice deals on there, though.

As the poster above me said, try not to use Amazon or eBay. They'll hike up the prices and sell you fakes. Unless you can find a reputable seller, it's just not worth it.

Perfectly said. AmiAmi is amazing, Mandarake is great for new or used items long sold out and rare figures, etc. Ebay is also pretty good, i've never had a problem with purchasing figures on Ebay, just keep your eyes open for the fakes and ask the right questions before you buy. Look at the pictures carefully. You can get some nice stuff on ebay.

I usually check amazon, ebay, and then google. I think most of the time I just google what I want and click on like 10 different links.
