Which main Pokemon game has the most content?
Posted 11/18/13
I'm looking to get back into Pokemon and while I realize that X and Y is out, I have heard that there is virtually nothing to do after the main story.

I want to get what I pay for so which main Pokemon game has the most content? It can be Blue all the way up to X and Y, doesn't matter. Does anyone have any idea?

I haven't played all of them, but I know Platinum had a lot of stuff you can do after game.

Hate to be the one to burst your snooze bubble, but there has been little innovation in the Pokemon franchise. If you played one...then you should know the drill. What X and Y does have is... 1.) more customizable character (limited) 2.) inline skates (who needs sneakers) 3.) on the subject of sneakers, you can customize your whole wardrobe. 4.) new pokemon of course 5.) friendship mini-games to bond with your pokemon 6.) training mini-games to improve stats... and um 7.) 3D pikachus . I don't think any of them have had much to do after the main story...with the exception of breeding to fill out that pokedex, trading, and battling that is.
I've played all and they all have their merits (except Emerald). If you liked any, you'll like this one too.

I would go with Heart Gold/Soul Silver or Black/White 2. Those two I feel have the most content. Heart Gold/Soul Silver have two regions to go with and Black/White 2 just has a nice diversity in Pokemon before beating the Elite 4 and there is still content there.

Heart Gold and Soul Silver. Two regions (Johto and Kanto), lots of events, Hoen and Sinnoh Pokemon pop up on certain days, chasing legendary Pokemon, Battle Frontier and a few other fun things. I lost the game years ago but I really want to play it again!

Of all the main Pokemon games to get, here's what I recommend for uniqueness.

-Pokemon Yellow (if getting all the starters and Pikachu mean that much without being able to send them to higher generations)
-Pokemon FireRed/Leafgreen (it's really your choice)
-Pokemon Emerald
-Pokemon Platinum
-Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver (lots of Legendaries after)
-Pokemon Black and White 2 (only played this for a bit but found it fun)

And X and Y. There, the best in my opinion. Content wise, Platinum/HG/SS.

Heartgold and SoulSilver has alot of Post Elite Four Content. X and Y have alot of customization options and ways to power up and befriend your pokemon. What sucks about X and Y is that its like Black and White, not alot of post game content. Whats probably going to happen is Z is coming out (or X-2, Y-2 ) then it'll have us create another character and have alot more post game content, probably more similar to White 2, or Black 2.

Pokemon Crystal, after the elite four you can go to Kanto. Or if you insist on a DS game, HeartGold or SoulSilver.

It's really the third game of each gen that you want to play but, content-wise Heartgold/Soulsilver has two regions you can travel. both those games and Emerald have sixteen gyms you can challenge.
I'd say both of them have probably the most content but Hg/Ss have around 25% more content due to them having two regions and, they have more refined gameplay than Emerald though that's not to say that Emerald is any worse. It just came out a little bit before the physical/special attack split and has no day/night cycle.

I thought Heart Gold and Soul Silver had the most content between the two regions. The newer games have their fair share but those to, in my opinion, had the most.
