I bought Tales of Xillia recently and am loving the hell out of it

However, a week ago I just...stopped

I didn't get bored, I didn't get stuck

I just stopped playing

It's a week later and I tried picking it back up and playing it but I lose interest quickly

I've deduced that it's possibly due to playing the game too much and needing a break

I've had a similar problem with other games before, taking a break part way through

So I'm just wondering, am I the only one who does this?

Nah, I stop games all the time, whether it be because I got a new one that I was excited about or for any other reason!

Like the previous two users, this happens to me all the time. Mainly with RPG games. For singleplayer games, the campaign is generally short and interesting enough that I'll continue all the way through, but on RPGs I tend to just stop, even if I'm really enjoying the game.

I have somewhat of the same problem. Though I finish most of my games, I have a tendency of starting over. This is especially uncontrollable with RPG's. When I decide to pick up and play the game again, for example in Skyrim... (Have not played in a while) I beat the story and am level 25, Have not touch that character ever since I beat the game(Was my origional character on day one). After that I kept making more toons that barely got to level 12. this goes for all Bethesda, 2k, EA and Capcom RPG games.

I have only two kinds of games: good games and better games.
Unfortunately, I play the hell out of my (like 5) better games and neglect my other (like 20) good games. What can you do.

It happens to me from time to time when playing a game and when it does I just take a break, or play a different one for a while. I do have to come back and beat it eventually, however; it'll drive me crazy if I don't.

Yeah I've been burnt out on MMOs that use the standard systems for a long time now, but it applies to normal games too.

Actually the way I usually end up playing games is I'll get into a game really hardcore-like and marathon play it, playing nothing but that game in every bit of spare time I have for days at a time foregoing sleep and all that jazz.
At some point though I need to change my focus to something else, like school or work though, and then I lose all desire to play the game for months at a time.

That's why I have tons and tons of games I haven't finished, and even more that I haven't even opened, because I keep buying them even though I don't have the time to play them the way I usually do.

I hate to admit it but almost my games in my collection remain unbeaten due to this exact reason. I barely ever get stuck in a game, it's I just don't feel like playing it through. So most of my games sit at the 70-80% mark because that is generally the amount of time it takes for me to get burnt out. Tales games are bad for that, but most RPGs are just long enough to burn me out on the thing, and they are my favorite game types, but I generally stop, and then months or years later I get this urge to play that game again and I beat it.

I bought FFXIII a while back and played it for like a straight three days. Unfortunately in that time I did A LOT of level grinding and got bored of that fast. I haven't touched it in months. FXIII really has an awful story though.

I did the same thing with Ni No Kuni, which makes me sad because I would love to actually beat it. It was a great game but newer games kept coming out and distracting me and now I have no intention of going back. It's been months so I basically forgot how to play.

I played the crap out of Resonance of Fate but suddenly lost interest the moment I reached the last chapter.

In FFXIII, reached Chapter 13 but I rushed through the previous dungeons/halls. I kept dying and got tired of it. I want to play Lightning Returns but part of me wants to play through this and XIII-2 before doing so.

Happens to alot of good games I play. Played the game for a week, then I stop. I did this with Bioshock Infinite, played it, then stopped for like 2-3 months. Played it again then finished it one sitting.

I did this with Pokemon Y, much to the to frustrations of my 3DS buddies I'm sure

I was even about to get to the Elite 4, and then bam!, I just stopped playing. I think part of it is not wanting the adventure to end.
