Because the license expires, or they get licensed by other companies.

I think my first three were Last Exile, Kaleido Star and Shangri La, in the Spring of 2009.

All three are on Funimation.com now ~ the first two were license rescues from their original licensors, and Shangri La was licensed by Funimation this year.

Hayate the Combat Butler, which I'm guessing got taken down either because of the license or to make room for the remake?

Yes, Mainland Asia only get 1 in 4 simulcasts, and that is boosted by a few long running series where Crunchyroll got Asian rights. The only series that get to China are the ones that are "worldwide outside Japan".

Between the very limited number of seasonal series getting simulcasts to China, and then some of those getting taken down when they are licensed in North America, China has very few catalog titles accumulated.

I first watched No. 6 on CR. Then I started watching Natsume Yujin-cho, 07 ghost and Gintama. I was hooked after Gintama though.

I think mine was the Kanon (the 2006 version).
