Of course, where else do you think I found my Hatsune Miku body pillow?

All jokes aside, I'd imagine that yes, you can, and I'm relatively sure that many people have. But I can't speak from personal experience.

Basically how I was. It hurts now but at the time, she was all that mattered.

I've been trying to not search because I seem to attract girls who just want to use me for money, sex, or to talk to about their problems.
So I have been trying to stay positive that someone will come into my life without me forcing my way into theirs, you know?

I've went on dates and stuff a few times, but nothing ever came out of it.
It's hard my town only has 3000 people in it, so I pretty much already know everyone.
To find someone that likes the things I do around here is pretty much impossible.

Yeah, I'd say it is definitely possible, but often it can just make things difficult and stressful. The only big issue is sometimes you might fall for someones personality, but understanding physical attraction is important, you just can't make that connection, so things end once you meet up. Just a tough call I'd say.

To answer the question: Yes. However, I need to add that this question needs to be expanded a little more.
Meeting someone online then dating is different from "Online Dating".

One is when you meet someone online without the initial intent to date. For example, if you met someone while playing a MMO, or through some common interest site such as CR.
The other is when you actually sign up for a online dating site, such as Match.com or eHarmony.

There is a big difference between the two, and intent is just a part of it. In the first case, the chances are that the people who met online will live quite a distance apart. This means they need to deal with the complications of a long distance relationship. Also, the chances of the two people actually dating is much lower, since it requires that both be single, it's unlikely they know what each other looks like, since a picture of each other is probably not readily available, and the conversation will be less about figuring out if the other person wants a relationship, but more on whatever topic brought them together - i.e. dungeon bosses, or how much such and such anime rocks or sucks.

In the case of Online dating, generally you search for people who are in your vicinity, so meeting up in person is not such a difficult thing to do. There is already an understanding that everyone there is single and looking for a relationship. Pictures are normally readily available, so each person can at least get a general idea of what the other person looks like. Conversations will naturally gear towards topics that reveal if one or other person is relationship material. Generally, couples who met through online dating are more successful and more common than people who met online and then decided to start dating.

I've seen success and failures in both cases, so the simple answer is, yes, you can find love online. Now whether or not it's the most effective way to meet a potential partner is the more complicated question to answer.
