Hey, I'm Nikki and I wanted to know if this is weird or not.

Sometimes when I'm reading a book I completely zone out and picture myself in the book. Lol.. *Face Palms*

Like say, if I was reading "Twilight" or something I would remove bella and put myself in her shoes. It's probably weird.. but I want to know if other people do this as well.

I also did this with the Harry Potter series. I would start reading and something interesting happen and i'll see myself fighting the death eaters.. LOL. And sometimes I burst out laughing. Yeah.. okay no wonder why people find me weird but who cares.

As a writer myself, that's exactly what I want people to do!

I could see how this would help writer develop fans! I also write stories myself, what kind of things do you write about?

I don't think it's weird, but I don't do it. Same as when I'm playing a video game. I never make a character that represents me because I think video games should be someone you wish you were or something that you couldn't be in the real world. I like to think of background stories for my characters I play in RPG's. My life is far to boring to put myself in their shoes. I wouldn't act the same as the character I'm reading about or playing as.

I do it all the time if it's a fictional book. I wouldn't want to be Bella though. That's just creepy.

I write my own fictional stories, and fan fiction. I've self-published a few novels as well, like 'Dexter Knight' and 'Devils and Angels'.

I don't tend to put myself into a story in place of character, but I do put myself in as a bystander on a regular basis. It usually happens less when I'm reading a book for the first time, and more when I'm re-reading (and thus more likely to be willing to pause and actually visualize scenes in detail).

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is James Thurber's classic story of a day-dreamer who escapes his anonymous life by disappearing into a world of fantasies filled with heroism, romance and action.
