Not weird at all. That's one of the best ways to engage with a book. I tend to see it like a film in my head though - if I stepped into the character's place, I'd feel like I'd ousted them. :-/

I think that's called being immersed in the reading material.

After I finish a Murakami book I often find myself thinking and talking the way Murakami writes or the way the main character thinks and talks. If I didn't write poetry, it would be a concern for me but it has proven to be pretty helpful in jogging my creativity and breaking the writer's block.

Hey, I'm Nikki and I wanted to know if this is weird or not.

Sometimes when I'm reading a book I completely zone out and picture myself in the book. Lol.. *Face Palms*

Like say, if I was reading "Twilight" or something I would remove bella and put myself in her shoes. It's probably weird.. but I want to know if other people do this as well.

I also did this with the Harry Potter series. I would start reading and something interesting happen and i'll see myself fighting the death eaters.. LOL. And sometimes I burst out laughing. Yeah.. okay no wonder why people find me weird but who cares.

I'll just leave this here

I'll occasionally get lost in thought - either remembering an event that happened, was read, watched, or played in a game (or even sometimes just totally made up) - and I'll end up making random emotions for the situation my mind landed me in..
So I don't see it as weird at all.
(Since making random emotions in random locations for no apparent reason is probably weirder.)

I don't think that's weird really. Imagining yourself in the books universe is kind of cool. It's a pleasant distraction from things.

yea i try to find favorite characters and put myself into their shoes, I don't read to often but when I find a book or something I like I won't stop.
I also sometimes zone out and have my own side stories in my head …….. which is kind of odd itself
There are times i want to laugh out loud but I won't cause i'd be embarrassed
so you aren't alone

I do something similar. I like to try to imagine what the actual characters faces look like, but if I can't I just take my face, morph it (in my mind's eye) to have the qualities that the author said the character has, and use that.

Not weird at all. It's part of the reason why I read books in the first place. It's fun to just immerse yourself in them and try to see and feel what the characters see and feel or trying to imagine what the world or place the author is describing to you looks like. It's the best

No it's not weird, It's called using your imagination, or your mind goes on " autopilot " and in your dreams you find yourself in the story. nothing weird about that.

I do this a lot more with anime lol But this happens to me sometimes in other things I watch, books, movies, etc. I have a vivid imagination. In fact, I write a lot of stories with myself as the main character usually, so that's another way I see your question. If you're weird, so am I lol
