I was a very big fan of this special. Kinda bummed Christopher Eccleston was not featured in it other than a brief cameo clip near the end. But overall i think Matt Smith and David Tennant were brilliant together on screen.

Dr Who is about the only thing more important to watch than anime!

I hope you did catch it!

Eccleston is a PRICK! The shows WANTED him, but that PRICK Eccleston said from the beginning that he wouldn't ever do more Dr Who.

That is why they had to use a clip from an old show

I don't know if leaving the show because he didn't like the way things are being run or the fact that he didn't agree with the overall "politics" of the general group makes him a prick. He left for what he believed were justifiable reasons. The fact is we don't know what goes on behind closed doors especially in the entertainment business.

I'm sure he could have said worse things than "you don't bathe in the same river twice", if he wanted to be a prick. But either way i still liked his performance as The Doctor. Sure he was corny and cheesy at times, but he also gave us a side of the doctor that was powerful as well.

To each his own i guess though.

From what I've seen around, Eccleston was only slated for that one season to start with. He's also never come across as a fan of the show from childhood, unlike Tennant and the upcoming Capaldi.

Eccleston just seems like a very private person. He's made audio clips or videos for a few DW events. Maybe reprising the same role just doesn't hold any interest for Eccleston as an actor?

Well, Time of the Doctor spelled it out very nicely

Captain Grumpy is #9
Eccleston is #10
Tennant is #11 and 12 due to being in love with his own face (had thought that one didn't count but apparently it dose)
Smith is #13

and Capaldi is the cycle breaker as #14
or #1 Mk 2 depending on how you want to look at it.

i thought Time of The Doctor was very rushed. fun, but rushed. so many important things were just throwaway lines.

I just watched this last night. I thought it was a bit rushed too, but even so, at the end when The Doctor was going through the last stage of his change, we saw Amy again, I just cried my eyes out like a little girl. I didn't realize how attached to Matt Smith as The Doctor I'd become and I'm really going to miss him. I'm hesitant about the new actor that's playing The Doctor now, but... we'll see how it goes.

The last two Doctors have been my favorite and I cried when both of them left. I'm not sure anyone else can match them, but I shall watch, wait and see.
