For my anime story, I'll explain by using my favourite anime of all time.
K-On! – To explain why this is 1st for me, I will explain from the beginning. This occurred towards the end of 2012, when I first started watching anime. I had just my finish my first few animes and wasn’t sure what to watch next. One of my friend who introduced me to anime said I could try listen to the music to decide on the anime to watch since I was such a music freak. We just picked random anime music to listen to, and K-on! Came up. It sounded pretty interesting to me, so I was like:
“I’m going to watch this anime” – so I did, this anime very quickly became the beautiful anime I have ever seen in my life.
At this time, I was still undergoing depression since 2010. I was always sad at school, social life wasn’t a concern to me at all.
K-on! Is basically about a group of girls having fun at their K-on bu (light music group) but as I watched K-on!! Episode 24 (end of the story for the anime) a tear went down my cheek. I realized something, anime or not. The girls of K-on (HTT) had so much fun at their 3 years of high school (in japan, high-school is 3 years). I just realized I have been crying for the last 3 years of MY high-school 2010-2012.
I decided that I needed to enjoy my last year of high-school, I immediately snapped out of depression, and really started showing people who I am.
Now over 100 animes (1year) later, it’s still my favourite anime and continues to keep me going.
I would like to thank Kakifly and KyotoAnimation for creating something so beautiful and for saving my life.

tengen toppa gurren lagann, half the shit i do on the forums stems from this anime about fighting the powah.

I like fighting the powah it gives me amusement, it is a good stress reliever from my every day battle in research, finding new ways to better the lives of people living with heart disease and diabetes.

I don't really understand the topic, are we supposed to describe our favorite anime or how we came to start watching it?

I believe it's a story we have relating to anime.

Long while back, I'd gotten out of Anime for a while. I was a Starcraft player. Good old Brood War. Used Map settings, Big Game Hunters, Cannon D.....freaking....Special Forces, Desert Castle, D&D Advanced Legendary edition.

But yeah, no Anime in my life for a while.

Then, during Thanksgiving, my two siblings and I accidently found "The Funimation Channel" way up at 7064 or something absurd like that. And it was having a Dragonball MARATHON, all of Season 1, all day, and we came in at episode 2.

Our younger cousins came over, and the whole family. While the adults talked, I manged to get my cousins into Dragonball, and Anime in general.

Oh, and that channel also introduced us to several other anime. Spiral, The Slayers, and Kodoka-chan(I think that was it's name)

The Slayers was easily among the best, got all 4 seasons nowadays....that 30 Dollar full 3-season Pack is the best deal ever.

Well this is a toughie due to the fact that i started watching anime back when i was 2 or 3 years old so i have no real memory of what my first anime was but i think its Bebop. Not sure but what i will talk about is how i got back into anime since i stopped around 2006 due to personal issues. So jump forward to 2010 in the middle of my 6th grade year late night on surfing the web i come across a show known as Katekyo Hitman Reborn! Interested i start watching the show and i loved watching it so i started watching other shows like Soul Eater, Gurren Lagann, and Baccano. Watching these shows made me realize that boy had i missed out big time in a mere 4 year period so that's how i got back into anime.

Another Story time!

Cowboy Bebop has an odd reputation with me. I grew up watching it on Adult Swim, that anime/adult cartoon network program block.

Only, Bebop generally aired right after bed-time. So we(Me and my siblings) only saw glimpses of it.

Fast forward several years, and we realized we've seen all of Cowboy Bebop several times over, but hardly remember it all. So whenever I watch it I think "Yeah yeah, I know what's happening.....but I don't"

As the Dialogue and characters don't stick to me, but the scenes are all remembered to a fine degree. The kind of "Hey I've seen this..." kinda vibe.

Trigun also had this, but I've been able to quell those thoughts by rewatching it a few times more than necessary.

It's a pretentious psychological slice-of-life tragedy that no one would enjoy reading about lol

I honestly don't remember much on how I started watching anime. I believe my first ever anime that I've watched was Dragonball Z when I watched Vegeta fought Goku during their very first encounter. During elementary school, I also watched Digimon and Pokemon since those were the next big things.

I grew up watching Toonami with shows like Ronin Warriors, Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, DBZ, and other cartoons (not considered anime though).

Then I've been watching on and off until nowadays where I watch a lot more anime series. I also liked to watch DVDs of old series occasionally when I was a kid but it was mainly a friend of mine that influenced me to watch anime.

Hmm story of how I got started with Anime huh... well I only started earnestly last year (yeah when I was a kid and watched the shows like DBZ, Gundam, etc that was on Cartoon Network but at the time I didn't realize the difference between Cartoon and Anime so I don't count that...)

I was over at my friends house and she was a bit of an Otaku at that point, I didn't care I don't judge my friends about what they like or dislike, but anyway she was watching Baka to Test Dubbed Version, I was bored and had nothing else to really do so I decided to sit down and watch it with her. Ended up we watched the whole series without even realizing it.

I was curious about other series so I asked her opinion, and she showed me a few other shows that were dubbed. From there I slowly but surely moved into subs and then found m way here to CR.

That's about it for my story. Isn't all that exciting or life changing...

I started watching anime after my middle school friend dragged me to her anime club. At first I thought it was all stuff like Naruto and DBZ, neither of which I liked. So, I avoided it. Then one day I started reading a magna over my other friend's shoulder, got interested, and found the anime of said magna online. That led me to anime streaming sites. So I started watching other things on there. This was recently after I quit playing softball and was in want of a hobby, so it didn't take long for my interest in anime to escalate. And 90 percent of my friends watched anime, so I was bound to be influenced.

Of course, I watched things like Pokemon and Yugioh growing up, but I never considered them any different from American cartoons.

I also started watching the Funimation channel. I would do this secretly. Whenever my family caught me watching it, I would get really embarrassed. Not sure why, I guess because I still thought anime was kind of a weird thing to like.

if we're going with origin stories, mine is quite a long one.

I've been watching anime since I was a small child, long before I even actually have any good recollection of my events, around the age of 2 or 3.. I'm not sure which was the first anime I ever watched, but I'm sure it was probably Robotech, since that's the oldest one I remember having watched when I was a kid. I also used to watch Transformers, Astro Boy, Dragonball, Sailor Moon, and a lot of the old anime-inspired cartoons like He-Man and Thunder Cats. these things were my childhood. eventually, I guess you could say that I "grew out" of watching those "childish cartoons".

my next encounter with anime was in high school with a little thing called Cartoon Network. Dragonball Z, Outlaw Star, Big O, Gundam Wing, Witch Hunter Robin, Ghost in the Shell.. anything else they put on. these were the main things I watched. I also bought and watched a good amount of dubbed anime, but I never delved into subtitled episodes, either fansubs or professional subs until around the end of 2003. after that, I was hooked on fansubbed episodes of shows like Naruto and Bleach with dabs of other shows as well, like Nanoha, Fate/Stay Night, and the Key animes. eventually, I just stopped watching anime. I eventually got drawn into Final Fantasy XI, and when I tried to watch my usual episodes of Bleach, Naruto, and whatever other anime people were saying were good, I just found myself not caring to watch them anymore. I thought maybe I'd "outgrown anime" again, so I only watched the very few things I saw that really piqued my interest.

fast forward a few more years to the end of 2011. not really sure why I felt like it, but I was compelled to watch a marathon of Key anime, so I did. I hadn't seen Angel Beats! yet, and I'd heard very good things about it, so I decided to have that be the end of the marathon. the show just stuck with me, and I found myself compelled again to try to find more, similar anime. so, ever since then, I've started watching a lot of anime, and eventually got into watching simulcasts by the season.
