I enjoyed the journey of Endless Eight, but not the destination. I spent the 8 episodes anticipating something BIG at the end.. was Kyon gonna pull another 'sleeping beauty'? Was there going to be a massive plot shattering event at the end? What am I missing from the available clues in front of me? What could it possibly be that the creators decided it warranted 8 identical episodes??

................................*spoilers*

It turns out... Kyon just needed to do his homework... the end. Life goes on. Oh well.

The anime version is a train wreck of confusion. Think Pulp Fiction meets back to the Future 3 on Steroids... but I love the franchise.

Season 3, yes please. More light novels, yes please.

I liked the tv series a lot (the endless 8 was actually not bad) the movie is a brilliant masterpiece, and you almost need little to no context of the series to get to grips with it. My only complaint is the release order, but that's easily sorted out.

I liked release order. The dream kiss between Kyon and Haruhi couldn't be topped, so they put that at the end of S1. I admittedly could not bear the Endless Eight and only watched five of them. (I watched the series late, after TV airing.) The movie was great, especially the Endless Eight stressed how much Nagato felt. I consider The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya one of the best movies I ever watched.

Movie was great! Hopefully Funimation gets the rights to it and releases it in Blu Ray.

They did get movie for bluray. Funny thing is the bluray version in uk was pushed back several times and then on day 1, cancelled it. Thus no bluray for uk and likely never to come. So i ordered the american version. I'd rather import the film on bluray then just upscale.

Most of the time i'd just get dvd to upscale but the haruhi movie was truly exceptional, really wanted it in highest quality going!

The only one I see that's A/1 and is dub, is from Bandai, and it's $145... That's why I want Funimation to get the rights to it, because they would probably sell the movie for $25 or $35.

Looking at the case, its bandai not funimation, has sub & dub but didn't cost me $145, only £24. Sure you can find it on ebay.

I don't trust eBay, anymore. I pretty much only use Amazon, and it's really expensive there!

Don't worry too much about that guys. At Funimation's Otakon panel this year they confirmed that they now have the rights to Haruhi. So expect a complete re-release of Season 1 and 2 (probably together, as well) on Blu-Ray at some point.

I'm a HUGE HUGE fan of Haruhi Suzumiya. (I only like season 1 though, season 2 was really stupid... so I didn't buy it, but it's not like that in the novel).

I haven't finished all the books, I got up to book #6 and decided to stop there... I have a weird mentality... I want to save this series for a rainy day when I have ABSOLUTELY nothing to do...

The manga is still ongoing too.

Only problem is, there haven't been any updates since the original anime announcement. So I'm a bit worried that it isn't going to happen.

Ick.. Hopefully we'll see something soon about it. Personally I can't wait for the Haruhi boxset to come out. I was "meh" about season 1 but I preferred season 2 and the movie sealed it for me. So now having all of them out I'll definitely grab that box set this time around. I'm happy CR has it so I was able to catch up. I still use the "uuuuuuuuugh" sound from the chibi thing (the one where she smashes up against the screen). I didn't even know that was a thing. I skipped the 2nd one though.. that was just awful. LOL

I really liked it too bad the show as far as I know is over but it's ongoing in the manga and novel's (and is being re-licensed by funimation) better catch up in the manga and novels!

I've only seen Season 1, and I was really surprised I liked it so much because Haruhi is an annoying brat. Kyon and the rest of the SOS club made it worth it, though. I'm going to have to watch Endless 8 (damn the powers that took it off CR!), I find it interesting everyone is so divided over it. What makes it so terrible specifically?

I watched Season 1 in the order they were aired (not chronological to the story), and when I started episode 1 I was just like WTF. Asahina's magic girl movie was such a weird way to start the show since it had no explanation. I thought the shitty quality, and Asahina's terrible voice for the theme were the real deal . Glad I stuck with it. And I agree with what the person in this thread said earlier, the dream kiss was a good way to end the series. I <3 the rainy day episode, just soooooo chill.

Cool show, though, with an interesting premise!

Actually, I'm pretty sure the CR episode order is neither chronological nor by air date.
