Dear Anime Fans,

Why must you watch all of an anime series and go back to the earlier episodes to ruin it for everyone else? After watching an episode i enjoy reading the comments underneath and discussing the current episode but because of idiots posting major plot spoilers I can no longer read the comments.

Sincerely, pissed of anime fan

PS : If you are among the few that do this, burn in hell.

Rule of thumb: Do not read the comments

unless you know what's going to happen

as for discussions there are forums for that, and generally folks are courteous enough to spoiler tag their spoilers

Some tag it as a spoiler, yes. Most don't though. I'd rather discuss the episode under the video comments as most of the forum talk will be about the recent episodes which i don't want to know about.

I won't be reading the comments again.

Yeah, if u ever find any, please do report the comment so that a mod can remove it. It would be helpful at least for those that watch the ep after u. ^.^

People usually use the spoiler tag on when they talk about an anime episode.

Most people know how I feel about spoilers.

The issue to me isn't the posting of them, so much as it is the improper etiquette of properly tagging them, or letting readers know exactly what's in them.

For the most part people just throw spoiler boxes all willy nilly in to their posts, without any clue as to what is inside them, so of course you're temped to look because you have no idea if they may be saying something relevant to the conversation that wouldn't be a spoiler to you.

If you're going to use a spoiler tag, I think it's important to say what exactly is in it right above it (Ex : Ep X spoiler inside etc etc).

I stopped using Wikipedia because it spoiled things too easily.

Now comments? If I don't trust Wikipedia, why would I trust random comments?

Oooh they said "if you like the Anime Samurai 7, you should watch the old movie it's based on." they said.

They all neglected to tell me THE STEAMPUNK/MECHA ANIME ADAPTATION MANAGES TO KEEP THE ENDING OF THE ORIGINAL MOVIE.

Spoiled some of the most badass stuff for me.... It was a good movie tho.

I share your pain. When folks make those comments, and they get reported, guess who has to read them even if they don't routinely read the comments--that's right, mods, who may also be trying to enjoy the show. But please do report those spoilers when you find them--as suikojay says, at least that benefits those who read after you do, and if we find a user who seems to routinely post spoilers in comments we can stop them from doing that.

That said, I'm not sure a new thread the Anime Discussion forum is the best place to vent--especially when we do already have a thread that addresses the issues of spoilers. If you do want to freshen up that existing thread, and encourage further discussion, and education of those who spoil carelessly rather than maliciously (they won't listen anyway), please continue in that existing thread that zipzo started not all that long ago:

Thing is, on CR, that only works in forum posts. In show comments and episode comments your only option is to mark the whole comment as spoiler or not mark at all.
