Actually, I think you should include the 2 core shows. It kinda kills some of my selections for the Fall season tbh in some categories such as best action, best male/female characters, etc.

Agreed. Another vote here.

*Side note(s)* - After deliberating for a good while, I finally decided to give Best of Fall 2013 Kyousougiga. I kept switching back and forth between Kyousougiga and Monogatari but finally decided to give it to Kyousougiga. Both were great series and I think ultimately I leaned more towards the uniqueness of Kyousougiga and the fact that I enjoyed it much more than I had initially thought. While I'm here I'd like to make a few shout outs to some series/songs/characters that I didn't award anything. Yozakura Quartet was a series I really enjoyed during this season and it was a shame that no one picked it up. Gingitsune was another series I enjoyed this year. I had a tough time deciding between Gingitsune and Non Non Biyori for best Slice of Life but yeah, I think the adorableness of Non Non Biyori reeled me in. Also, "Just One Life" by SPYAIR (Samurai Flamenco) was an amazing song. If I was just judging the song, it'd have won best opening for me. It quite possibly could be my favorite song of last year from any series. Lastly, Kaiki in the Hitagi End Arc of Monogatari Second Series was just plain awesome.

Best Story - Kyousogiga
(I think I said last season that The Eccentric Family was what a modern-day fairy tale should be like; that was before this anime came along. I love this story of a family coming together across time and space after being torn apart by the father's personal issues, and I love the theme of family trumping all else, even the possibility of all of space-time collapsing.)
Honorable Mention - Little Busters! Refrain

Best Animation - Kyousogiga
(The series is set in a somewhat whimsical, somewhat traditional fantasy world, and the animation serves to bring out the best of these aspects in great detail. Pretty much every bit of animation, from colors and shapes to character designs and gradients on objects, served to make the world look truly alive.)
Honorable Mentions - Unbreakable Machine Doll, Gingitsune

Best Use of CGI - Unbreakable Machine Doll
(I'm not really that familiar with the use of CGI in anime; all I know is that it tends to be distracting for me. In Unbreakable Machine Doll, aside from the fight in episode 4, I didn't notice that CGI was used until I noticed others commenting on it. I like this subtle use of CGI.)

Best Opening - "Koko" by Tamurapan (Kyousogiga)
(I love symbolic opening sequences, and this one is one of the more symbolic ones in recent memory. Koto shattering the scenes of Yase's and Kurama's troubled childhoods (after the passing of the prayer beads), Inari and (mother) Koto reaching for one another to form a cycle, the worlds splitting, and the prayer beads resembling DNA surrounding Myoue and Koto especially stood out to me. And all of that is backed by a song that I feel fits the sequence and the series perfectly and which I could listen to for hours without tiring of it.)
Honorable Mentions - "Golden Time" by Yui Horie (Golden Time), "S・M・L☆" by Afilia Saga (Noucome), "Nanairo Biyori" by nano.RIPE (Non Non Biyori)

Best ED - "Tooku Made" by Angela (Coppelion)
(The song starts off relatively slowly before picking up not once, but twice and breaking out into something very powerful and full of emotion. Not only does the song resonate with me on its own, it also fits the overall tone of the series quite well: slow, but foreboding in the beginning; stronger and more tense in the middle; fast and powerful in the end. The sequence didn't blow me away, but I do feel the foreshadowing and the switches from the recap clips to the clips portraying the characters and the world were more than enough to keep my attention.)
Honorable Mentions - "Daisy" by Stereo Dive Foundation (Beyond the Boundary), "Innocent" by earthmind (Galilei Donna)

Best Action - Yozakura Quartet: Hana no Uta
(The action, on top of being very well-animated from start to finish, always felt dynamic and unpredictable to me. I never expected what came next during a fight, but whatever did happen always felt novel to me, rather than random or clichéd, and always fit the circumstances without feeling too convenient.)
Honorable Mentions - Unbreakable Machine Doll, BlazBlue: Alter Memory

Best Slice of Life - Gingitsune
(This ended up a tougher decision than I expected it to be, but in the end I decided that the characters in Gingitsune felt so realistic to me and interacted in such fascinating ways that I had to give it my vote. I do wish the series featured more interactions between Makoto and Gintarou, but the I liked all of the other interactions just as much, so it's okay.)
Honorable Mention - Non Non Biyori

Best Drama - Little Busters! Refrain
(I felt like a lot of really powerful stuff happened this time around; the disappearance early on, Rin's ordeal, the backstories of Masato and Kengo, the truth about Kyousuke, and of course Riki and Rin's final push in the end had me really immersed. I don't really know how else to describe this aside from calling it 'dramatic.')
Honorable Mentions - Kyousogiga, Coppelion

Best Comedy - Non Non Biyori
(Another tough choice, but I finally decided that Non Non Biyori became funnier with each episode until it finally topped NouCome in the end. I suppose I've grown to like comedies that make me smile more than comedies that make me laugh, but between all the jokes about living in the country (which I can kind of relate to) and the slightly crazy characters, this anime did both of those things very well.)
Honorable Mention - NouCome (My Mental Choices . . .)

Best Short Series - Miss Monochrome the Animation
(Again, smile-inducing comedy vs. laughter-inducing comedy. But even then, I could support Miss Monochrome's ambition. No matter what crazy hijinks she got herself into, I was always rooting for her on some level; she was literally created to be an idol, after all. I also felt the ending was very nice and very fitting.)
Honorable Mention - Teekyuu 3

Best Male Character - Shin'ichi Kanou (Outbreak Company)
(An otaku who's aware of his otaku-ness and actually uses his experience with anime (and similar media) to teach the residents of a fantasy world some much-needed lessons about culture, manage the growth of this newfound culture, and worm his way out of an unexpected and nasty situation. I consider that awesome. Also, Shin'ichi x Myucel needs to happen.)
Honorable Mentions - Cicinho (Galilei Donna), Deishuu Kaiki (Monogatari Series Second Season)

Best Female Character - Ibara Naruse (Coppelion)
(She seems like a strong leader at first before she's revealed to be quite insecure about the circumstances of her birth, at least until she lets her guard down and her companions catch on to her act and ensure her that she doesn't have to bear her burden alone. Between that point and the end of the series, she goes from barely stable leader to confident fighter and savior, to saint (or perhaps 'Angel' is a better word). She insists on forgiving and saving everyone, but she knows that's not as simple as it sounds on paper, and she's prepared to fight to the bitter end for her ideals. As an idealist myself, I truly admire this level of spirit and determination.)
Honorable Mentions - Rin Natsume (Little Busters!/Refrain), Koto (daughter) (Kyousogiga), Hozuki Ferrari (Galilei Donna)

Best Ost - Little Busters! Refrain
(I liked just about every song that played in this anime, and I felt they all fit perfectly. Upbeat, catchy tunes for the times when the crew would just screw around and have fun, and melancholic or even sad tunes for the less happy moments. "Song for Friens," in particular, gets me every time.)
Honorable Mentions - Kyousogiga, Nagi no Asukara

Best Single Episode - "One Wish" (Little Busters! Refrain, Episode 12)
(I love surreal things and I love character development; this episode had both in spades. I still have no idea if what Rin experienced in this episode happened physically or in her head, but I honestly don't care. This series of events tied up a loose end, specifically Rin's relationship with the other girls, in what I felt was brilliant fashion and finally pushed Rin to the peak of her character development. I'll never forget how I felt when she said "I can do it!"
Honorable Mention - "The Fingertips That Can't Reach" (Nagi no Asukara, Episode 13)

Surprise of the Season - Kyousogiga
(I had watched and liked the original ONA as well as the follow-up ONAs when they came out, so I knew I would watch and probably like the TV series. But I was not prepared for this. I remembered Myoue, Yase, and Kurama being siblings, but I didn't think the story would be about family. I remembered a mention or two of alternate dimensions, but I didn't think multiple dimensions would be such a big part of the story. I remembered a place called "Shrine," but I never could have imagined such a unique take on religion. This series completely blew my expectations away.)
Honorable Mentions - NouCome (My Mental Choices . . .), Outbreak Company

Best of Fall 2013 - Kyousogiga
(What else can I praise about this anime? I guess the fact that it took some scenes from the ONAs, but made changes that were subtle, but very important, and which allowed so many things to click for me. I was worried that the '13th world' conflict would steer the series in a direction that was not to my taste, but instead the series used this conflict to emphasize the importance of family, even going as far as to have Koto and Myoue decide that their family was more important than even problems with space-time itself. I felt this was a wonderful series, and I am very glad I saw it.)
Honorable Mentions - Gingitsune, Galilei Donna

I'll throw in just a few bonus awards this time.

Best Story
Monogatari 2nd Season: what's to say, this series is almost nothing BUT story, and it's a bloody amazing one.

Best Animation
Kyoukai no Kanata: it's definitely pretty.. too bad it's about the only thing this show had going for it.

Best Use of CGI
Unbreakable Machine Doll: it was subtle enough that it worked and blended well with the animation.

Best OP
Outbreak Company: it's a little bit on the cheezy sounding side, but after as many Gust games as I've played, that kind of sound just embodies the type of music I come to expect from a beautiful fantasy world like the one in this anime. it was a pretty hard choice though, there are a lot of good OPs this season.

Best ED
Unbreakable Machine Doll:
回レ回レ回レ回レ回レ回レ回レ
ヽ(`Д´)ノ (д´ノ) ヽ( )ノ (ヽ´△) ヽ(´△`)ノ

Best Action
Unbreakable Machine Doll: another tough pick, but this is the one I really enjoyed the most.

Best Slice of Life
Gingitsune: such a calming anime.

Best Drama
White Album 2: not often that a drama doesn't feel forced due to time constraints of a show, but WA2 is very well done.

Best Comedy
Yuushibu: often times, I find myself having been laughing for minutes on end at the stupid things that happen in this show.

Best Male Character
Araragi Koyomi: lucky bastard. hilarious bastard. awesome bastard.

Best Female Character
Yaya: her spurts of jealousy and constant attempts to get in Raishin's pants are just hilarious. she's also awesome in battle.

Best of Fall 2013
Monogatari 2nd Season: it's pretty much almost impossible for me to pick any other anime. this series has pretty much everything, and it does it all well. the characters and the crazy story all go very well together in a nice package that makes it pretty much irresistible.

honorable mention: Yozakura Quartet: Hana no Uta is pretty close to Monogatari, but it just needs a little more establishment to it. I could really see it catching Monogatari eventually, if it is given more episodes. the show is fun, and like Monogatari, it mixes many elements together to make an engaging show that I can't really look past.

First off, I agree to separating Slice of Life and Drama and I agree to having an Annual Anime 2013 Awards :)

This is going to be extremely hard to chose what shows to pick for each category. 5 shows I am watching are not eligible (Golden Time, Kill la Kill, Log Horizon, Nagi no Asukara, and Samurai Flamenco), and each one of them are actually very high up in my rankings, so this will be interesting lol. I've pretty much lost some of my sure fire choices. I still think they should be eligible for the season they actually started in, though...it only makes sense...

If any of these 5 shows made it as my first place choice in any category I will basically state that this one would have made it here, but it's not eligible and pick a different show as my first choice. However, if one of those 5 shows are my 2nd or 3rd place winners in any of the categories, I will put them down as such since my 1st choices are really the only ones that count towards the voting. Also I can add the 5 non-eligible shows as any choice in the categories I'm sharing since they are just my categories, not this award's categories

***I'm watching a total of 17 shows this season with 5 of them being non-eligible until next season's awards***
The anime I am watching this season are:
- Coppelion
- Diabolik Lovers
- Galilei Donna
- Gingitsune: Messenger Fox of the Gods
- Golden Time
- Kill la Kill
- Kyoukai no Kanata
- Log Horizon
- Unbreakable Machine-Doll
- Meganebu!
- Miss Monochrome
- Nagi no Asukara
- My Mental Multiple Choice Power Is Completely Ruining My School Romantic Comedy
- Samurai Flamenco
- Super Seisyun Brothers
- Walkure Romanze
- White Album 2

***Runner Ups are 2nd Place and Honorable Mentions are 3rd Place***

***These are subject to change as the Fall 2013 Season ends***

Best Story: Coppelion (Samurai Flamenco would have won Best Story)
- Since Samurai Flamenco is not eligible for voting, Coppelion won Best Story because I just like the basic idea of three girls, who are immune to nuclear waste and pollution, go into a deserted, old capital to save people who are still trapped there by the pollution. It's a basic idea, but it's pretty entertaining and especially the second half of the series when we are introduced to the Ozu Sisters.
Runner Ups: Galilei Donna
Honorable Mentions: Nagi no Asukara

Best Animation: Kyoukai no Kanata
- I feel like I don't even need to explain why Kyoukai no Kanata won Best Animation. It's KyoAni, so of course Kyoukai no Kanata wins Best Animation.
Runner Ups: Nagi no Asukara
Honorable Mentions: Galilei Donna and Coppelion

Best Use of CGI: N/A
- (I don't get why this is a category...)
Runner Ups: N/A
Honorable Mentions: N/A

Best OP: "Synchromanica" by Negoto (Galilei Donna OP) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dxB1zqvK4g
- Galilei Donna's OP song won Best OP because it's so different from most OP (at least I thought so anyway ^^"). The song was the catchiest of all this season's OPs and the visuals were fascinating as well.
Runner Ups: "Just One Life" by SPYAIR (Samurai Flamenco OP 1) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPfy7C0ENy4 and "ANGEL" by angela (Coppelion OP) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bO5r5YJrgJY
Honorable Mentions: "Kyoukai no Kanata" by Minori Chihara (Kyoukai no Kanata OP) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqxJ191ecPQ and "database feat. TAKUMA (10 Feet)" by MAN WITH A MISSION (Log Horizon OP 1) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_AW6WfuWuOg

Best ED: "Daisy" by STEREO DIVE FOUNDATION (Kyoukai no Kanata ED) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qpm5qTnWo4
- Kyoukai no Kanata's ED won Best ED because of.......dat song O__O. This song has to be my favorite out of ALL OPs and EDs this season. It was just utterly perfect, and those visuals for the ending made it even better. May even be up for overall best ending of 2013.
Runner Ups: "Maware! Setsugetsuka" by Hitomi Harada, Ai Kayano, and Yui Ogura (Unbreakable Machine-Doll ED) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFVzZtjz3aA and "Date TIME" by Mineral Miracle Muse (Samurai Flamenco ED 1) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ps98AL0GGnI
Honorable Mentions: "Sweet & Sweet CHERRY" by Yui Horie (Golden Time ED 1) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=piFg_auEJO0 and "Aqua Terrarium" by Nagi Yanagi (Nagi no Asukara ED 1) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkTwMzyMkXc

Best Action: Log Horizon (Kill la Kill would have won Best Action)
- Since Kill la Kill is not eligible for voting, Log Horizon won Best Action because the battles are exactly like those in a video game. Each battle is intense and you get to learn new things about the game Elder Tales, the game in which they are trapped in, during a battle.
Runner Ups: Kyoukai no Kanata
Honorable Mentions: Unbreakable Machine-Doll

Best Slice of Life: Gingitsune: Messenger Fox of the Gods
- Gingitsune won Best Slice of Life because its basically about the everyday life of Makoto at her shrine, school, etc. It's the exact definition of slice of life.
Runner Ups: Meganebu!
Honorable Mentions: White Album 2

Best Drama: White Album 2
- White Album 2 won Best Drama because each deep moment in this series really hits you and the drama between each character is over exaggerated to add more drama to the already present drama.
Runner Ups: Nagi no Asukara
Honorable Mentions: Golden Time

Best Comedy: My Mental Multiple Choice Power Is Completely Ruining My School Romantic Comedy
- Noucome won Best Comedy because I literally had to pause every 2 minutes to get all my laughing out of my system, it was so funny. It's a ridiculous and dumb kind of humor, but it works and definitely gets me laughing constantly.
Runner Ups: Meganebu!
Honorable Mentions: Kill la Kill

Best Short Series (3-5 min episodes): Miss Monochrome
- Miss Monochrome won Best Short Series because its cute and charming with Monochrome's antics to try and become an idol. It kind of reminds me of Vocaloid, which is another reason why I liked it.
Runner Ups: Super Seisyun Brothers
Honorable Mentions: N/A

Best OST: White Album 2 (Kill la Kill would have won Best OST)
- Very beautiful soundtrack. The melodies and tunes are breath-taking and really hit home on your heart.
Runner Ups: Meganebu!
Honorable Mentions: Diabolik Lovers

Best Individual Episode: TBA
Runner Ups: TBA
Honorable Mentions: TBA

Most Surprising of Fall 2013: Walkure Romanze (Samurai Flamenco would have won Most Surprising of Fall 2013)
- Since Samurai Flamenco is not eligible for voting, Walkure Romanze won Mos Surprising of Fall 2013 because even though it does have ecchi elements, I still enjoy the characters and jousting. I highly dislike ecchi series, but Walkure Romanze isn't that bad except for a few panty shots and that's that....well except for the episode with Celicia and Akane lol.
Runner Ups: Diabolik Lovers
Honorable Mentions: Kill la Kill

Best Male Character: Kanade Amakusa (My Mental Multiple Choice Power is Completely Ruining My School Romantic Comedy) (Masayoshi Hazama from Samurai Flamenco would have won Best Male Character)
- Since I can't vote for Masayoshi from Samurai Flamenco, Kanade from Noucome won Best Male Character because he is just a hilarious character and you really start to feel bad for him for being cursed with the Absolute Choice and really being surrounded by crazy females, and not to mention being hated by the whole school for something he can't stop. Poor Kanade lol ^^". Heck, he even gets harassed by God himself ^^".
Runner Ups: Akihito Kanbara (Kyoukai no Kanata)
Honorable Mentions: Uroko-sama (Nagi no Asukara)

Best Female Character: Hozuki Ferrari (Galilei Donna) (Akari Sakishima from Nagi no Asukara would have won Best Female Character)
- Since I can't vote for Akari from Nagi no Asukara, Hozuki from Galilei Donna won Best Female Character because she is just a sweet, down-to-earth character who is extremely talented at inventing things, which I'm very impressed with because of her age. She is just adorable and genuine and full of adventure, not to mention she's the most mature I think of all three sisters >w<
Runner Ups: Ibara Naruse (Coppelion))
Honorable Mentions: Kazusa Touma (White Album 2))

Best of Fall 2013: Galilei Donna (Samurai Flamenco would have won Best of Fall 2013)
- Since Samurai Flamenco is not eligible for voting, Galilei Donna won Best of Fall 2013 because of how historical and unique it is. It's beautiful to watch and the characters are very well composed, not to mention the story is unique and original. The only things that bothered me a little about the series were the three sisters names (aren't they Italian? lol) and how they actually brought Galilei Galileo into the series for two or three episodes, but I'll let that one slide since I enjoyed that part regardless. I only wish this series was more than just 11 episodes long, it would have made for a great 24 or 25 episode series. Galilei Donna is a great watch and is way to underrated. It is just as good as any of the other series this season and it has become one of my favs this year.
Runner Ups: Nagi no Asukara
Honorable Mentions: Coppelion
